Just had a thought that I hadn't seen discussed much (I apologize if it has been - I know this topic gets old).
Saban encouraged Kirby to go after the Auburn job and fully supported him. Then you have Terry saying they'd love Kirby to follow Saban as the next coach. So wouldnt you think that if Saban was even leaning toward leaving, he'd tell Kirby to be patient? I see Saban being honest with Kirby and saying "there's at least a 40-50% chance I leave, and I'm recommending you to Mal." I could be way off base, but it's just a thought. Sorry for bringing up the topic again but I wanted to get a feel for what y'all thought of the idea.
Lucky also hinted here that Kirby would have taken the UT job if Jones didn't work a deal out....I don't buy the argument some are using that Kirby is waiting because he knows Saban is leaving AT ALL!
That's not what I was trying to say (unless I misunderstood you). I was saying that Kirby's willingness to leave points toward Saban staying a few more years.
Why do you bring up Saban to the NFL in every post? Hypothetical or not, do yourself a favor and let it go.
Elk Hunting in WY; Bama/TN Game in Knoxville (RTR!!); Whitewater rafting on the Chattooga!
I'm agreeing with you....my point was Kirby was apparently ready to go to UT also...which just adds more to your point.
CNS will play every situation as though he's staying here until he actually signs somewhere else. That's Negotiating 101. So, don't look for signs like this. You won't find them. Even if CKS was close enough to know he could be interviewing just to improve his status/starting salary.
Just checked my post history to make sure I wasn't crazy, but I'm pretty sure you have me confused with someone else. I haven't been posting about that topic until now.
My mistake, their has been alot of chatter about saban and the NFL on this board.
