I agree with this entire post.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Cor 10:4
I think they've all had great defenses but 2011 and 2009 both were better defensively than 2012. However I think this year's offense was significantly better than those other 2 teams.
1. 2012 'cause it is much harder to repeat
2. 2009 Broke a long drought
3. 2011 Rededicated following 2010
2012 was much more explosive in the passing game and had better QB play than 2009 or 2011. Running games in all three years were roughly equal....
I agree with that, I just don't think it's enough to get passed that 2011 defense. That defense was simply impossible to run on and a nightmare for opposing QBs. The highest QB rating against the 2011 team was Tyler Wilson at 120, and nobody else was really close. Haha. Average was 82, that's just sick! This year we have Aaron Murray at 136, Mett at 150, and of course Johnnie Manziel at 167. To put that in perspective Everette Golson's QB rating against Alabama this year was better than any QB against the 2011 team the entire season.
Rushing D was more comparable but 2011 was still noticeably and demonstrably stronger.
The more I think about it, I tend to agree with this. People were ready to put 2011 LSU in the discussion for greatest team of all-time until we crushed them in the BCS. We even heard from the media leading up to that game that LSU had improved since the first meeting in Tuscaloosa. It wasn't until WE MADE their offense look terrible that people started saying those things.
2011- Best NCAA defense of the modern era, good o-line and a force of nature at RB.
2012- McCarron steps up and leads a great Bama offense, sets records, great 1-2 punch at RB, freshman sensation at WR and not the best defense of the Saban era but they still finished number 1 in overall, rushing and scoring defense.
Almost forgot, best o-line in Bama history.
2009- Might be my personal favorite, went undefeated, had a great moment in dismantling Tebow & Florida.
But, if they met on the field against the 2011 or 2012 team i think they wouldn't be quite up to snuff, still had some Shula players and Gmac is no McCarron.
2009 team won em all against better competition. Pounded a great UF team, beat a 13-0 Texas squad and started the year pounding a very good Va Tech team. Toughest team of the bunch. 11 and 12 are a dead heat. Better D in 11 and better O in 12. 12 team benefitted from a softer schedule and only lost IMO because the pressure of being trying to repeat got to them.
2009 was the greatest year, although maybe not the most talented team, in that they went undefeated in the SEC and destroyed the previous year NChamps and number 1 team when they played. Then destroyed Texas at the site of Bama 's first National recognition and championship. They did it with 5 stars and 0 stars starting on their team, and it was the shot heard around the college football world that a sleeping giant had been awakened, which resides in Tuscaloosa! Roll Tide Roll!
I would put this years team on par with the 2010 team, which was championship caliber with a little less luck.

Ok I interpreted it a different way than you did. Big fcking deal jackass.
I don't care which one you think is the most accomplished .

I don't think 09 would be a double digit dog to 12. Maybe a 6 or 7 point dog at most. Both teams would be double digit dogs to 11.
The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.
You think 2009 beats 2011? I think 2011 wins by 14 at least.
1. 2011- While all three defenses were great, that defense was stellar. Good offense.
2. 2012- Great defense. One of the best offenses I can remember in some time, even with a slew of injuries.
3. 2009- Great defense. Good offense. Probably the most cherished season just because of all the firsts.
One thing to remember as well. The 2012 season had an accomplished QB, which neither the 2009 team or 2011 team had to that point. Both QBs on those squads were capable of making plays, but to me, the 2012 version of McCarron had the confidence and capability to win a game on his own if he had to (also had the best stable of wide receivers, even with the injuries).
Still would have loved to see a complete 2012 season with Fowler at FB/TB. His injury took away an entire element from our offense this year.
When 2013 team wins next year. I'm sure they will take the top spot.
2011 - Best defense by far, maybe GOAT defense. 2nd best offense and not behind by far
2012 - Best offense, 3rd best defense, but not as far behind on D vs 2009 as 2009 O is behind the '12 O
2009 - Great defensive team, close to 2011 but no cigar. a few positions were significantly weaker. Offense was good at times, but it was a real, real struggle for about a month and a half in the middle of the year to score. Was all Ingram/Richardson. GMac wasn't getting it done until November
