I think 2009 beat teams that were better than the teams that beat 2011 and 2012. It aint all about talent.
Somebody's comparison of the 2009 talent with the talent that replaced them in 2010 i a little funny and a little revisionist history. Because Ro hasnt succeeded in the league he was a "good" player for us? He was a freakin Butkus winner and was the greatest MLB and leader we have had since Saban has been here. Those high draft choices on the 11 team failed to replace that leadership in 10 and thats why that team lost 3 games. KJ is a "bad NFL starter" and Deadrick is a "backup." Deadrick will be in the game for the Patriots on Sunday about as often as Hightower and Jackson will be in every play for the Texans. Turn on the TV this weekend and watch them both start for playoff teams, that's what most of the draft picks off of the 11 defense will be doing. Oh, and there is that guy that will start at WR for the Falcons, the guy that won the Heisman trophy and his backup. I forget their names because they were so ordinary.
i'll wait and see who steps up at NT & CB in 13' before ranking our latest NC teams.
Julio and Ingram were still on the team in 2010 so not sure how that is relavent. The poster said the 2010 team didn't win as many games b/c of the talent the 09 team lost. Losing Deaderick, Jackson, and Ro was not some unbelievable amount of talent lost.
The great leadership of Julio and Ingram you are referring to lost 3 games in 2010 (their last year). Losting 2-3 NFL starters is the least talented team Saban has had since he has been here. That's what the 09 team lost. Great team. Just not sure how anyone can think they are on the same level as the last 2 years.
Part of being a great team is bringing it every week and winning close games. 2009 did that better than 2012 and 2011. It isn't even debatable. Your point that the 2009 team wasn't talented is off base. And if you want to argue that Julio and Ingram weren't good leaders I suggest you go break a bone in your hand and play wide receiver the next week or have knee surgery and come back in 3 weeks.

1) 2011 (One of the best defenses in college football history)

I honestly think there is quite a bit of separation of from the 2011 team and the other two.
Man Alabama has had some great teams.
1. 2011- Greatest defense I have ever seen.
2. 2012- Best offense Alabama has ever had.
3. 2009- This team overachieved but still great.
However, the talent on the 2010 team is ridiculous. Talent wise, it may be better than all three of them. I know it has been said in this thread before but 2010 was unbelievably talented.
Think about this, Julio Jones, Donta Hightower, Courtney Upshaw, James Carpenter, Barrett Jones, Demarcus Milliner, Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, DJ Fluker, Eddie Lacy, CJ Mosely, Chance Warmack, and a few others that I am probably leaving off. However the guys I named either have been or will be drafted in the first two rounds. That's amazing. That team should not have lost to anyone but youth and inexperience killed us. Alabama is on an amazing run.
