According to CBS Sports reporter Jeremy Fowler, UCF offensive line / assistant head coach Brent Key has interviewed for the open Alabama offensive line job.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
I'm guessin' Pat Hill doesn't want the grind at 'Bama. He probably has it much easier in the pros. What is he now, 62ish or so? Although I would absolutely love to have him...
Would be a great hire
I'm hoping Key is the coach CNS hires. He is said to be one of the best youg OL coches & a great recruiter. He would have to have good conections in florida for recruting.
Key definitely has a very impressive resume. He was up for the Broyles last year.
We also need a recruiter for south Florida. Key would be key, there.

I really hope this happens. Not only is he an excellent coach, he grew up a huge Bama fan and also happens to be my cousin.
"That's just my style, and everybody's gotta have their own style."
Would he have been recruited by the DuBose staff?
I was just a kid back in those days, but I believe he graduated around the same time that DuBose took over for Stallings.
Nice resume, would be solid hire.
instant insider status (G)
I believe Dubose was the head coach when he signed with GT.
Like pbailey said, it was around the cutoff between Stallings and Dubose.

...Just wondered how we missed-on him. Of course he could've gone to GaTech for the academics too. And Geo.O'Leary was an accomplished coach, inspite of his resume issues.
We've posted a story on the latest with the opening: http://alabama.247sports.com/Article/Key-interviews-with-Alabama-for-offensive-line-opening-116681
Yeah, I'm not sure if he was offered by Bama (huge mistake if he wasn't). He was a big Bama fan, so I feel like he would've come to Bama if offered. Maybe his cousin can share some insight? He is really smart though, and GT is a great academic school.
If I remember correctly, Neil Callaway was DuBose's O-Line coach back then. Not sure who the north Alabama area recruiter would've been for the HwT region.
To tell you the truth, I'm really not sure if he was ever offered by Bama. It seems like he would being a local guy, but I really don't know.
