Goes back to what you were saying about needing a hard ass and some structure in his life....Saban probably added both of those
That's only a good analogy if the cop was gay and was putting the moves on Ro. I wonder if the cop asked Ro for his phone number too?
I don't think he needs a father figure or even a strict coach. He is a grown man now. He should be mature enough and be able to self-discipline himself. It shows truly poor character that he cannot. What a great talent, but what a dumb person.
When he was still playing, I thought he'd make a great LB coach one day. So much for that now.
Never Gets Old
that's an interesting point. You do have to identify yourself correctly when asked by the police, but I'm assuming he gave them his license if he was to the point of signing. It will be interesting if this holds up; it was not a threat.
Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before the light comes on...countless examples out there...unfortunately Ro appears to be on a rapid decent.
"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
I tend to agree with this and while it isn't likely to get him into real trouble, it's his image we are really talking about here.
Heard an interview with the Police Department on "Smashmouth" this morning, and the offense was that he was driving with windows too darkly tinted. The officer could not tell when he approached the vehicle if the driver was male or female. Ro stated that he had a letter from his doctor stating he could use dark tint. The officer debated this with him, called his seargent, and they tried to get him to sign the ticket correctly after he had signed it with an explicative. When he refused he was arrested. The police department official stated that they had more things to be concerned about than "RM," and that they did not want to arrest him. Simply put, he refused to sign the ticket, and instead used it as an opportunity to express a vulgarity in writing toward the police department: "________ Ya'll!"
As Bama fans...and some of us as Bama grads...we want to see our former players do well and be successful and represent the university well. But, IMO, there comes a time when emotionally you just have to let them go. That's where I am with Rolando McClain, and personally, I couldn't care less if he ever plays another snap in the NFL or if he ends up in prison. At some point, if he decides to make some changes, maybe I'll start caring about what he does, but until then I'm not going to waste the energy it takes to rub two brain cells together to care about what he does. Waste of time, energy, and emotion.
So right. I'm actually a little worried about him...he's a really smart guy and this is a totally irrational act. I wonder if something else is going on...
I wish he would stay out of Decatur for good and start running with a new crowd.. I was in a situation where a certain group of friends were negativity effecting my behavior and when I realized that and left that group, my life started getting better. Hope the same happens with Ro
I am from Decatur and I know his parents and family. He does have some issues that need addressing. But, he is an adult and it is time for him to start living like a RESPONSIBLE adult that understands personal accountability. With that being said, some of the cops at DCP department are certainly not angels. Furthermore, without name calling, they are probably hounding the guy at every turn. Understanding that, Rolando needs to stay away from Decatur as much as possible.
ROLANDO grow your azz up OR you will be living in Decatur, AL before long. The cops won't even think twice about you, unless when they discussing how stupid you behaved to lose the opportunity to earn millions of dollars playing a damn football game. As everyone can tell, I am thoroughly disgusted AND disappointed in this young man's behavior.
Saban has got to run a tight ship to have kept Rolando straight. He is going to throw a great career away...
I've been a member on BOL for several months now, but this is my first post. It seems fitting considering I was literally just playing bball at the rec and had a Ro encounter. Had just finished a pick up game so we go to get water, come back to start up with the next guys who have been waiting in typical rec pick up game fashion. I notice Ro and some of his buddies shooting on the other end of the court. We figure they'll move once we get going...but no we make it to the other end and Ro stops us to tell us that they aren't moving and that "we can find another court." After very little debate we say that we are just going to play through them while they are just shooting on that end of the court. Ro responds "that's cool but we ain't moving." So there we were playing a game with 3 guys just standing around one half of the court shooting around and chatting it up. He wasn't hostile in any way and it wasn't a huge deal, but I mean it was just the fact that acted like a prick. It was like he owned the rec center or something. I really hope the guy can turn it around, but I see why he can't stay out of trouble. Attitude needs major adjustments. Anyway, sorry for the long first post and Roll Tide!!!
Maybe I'm not reading your post correctly but are you saying they were there first and you expected them to move?
Negative. There was big group of us who had been on that court for over an hour. The point I was trying to get across is that Ro came up and was an a-hole. He and his friends walked up and told us to find another court. Sorry for the confusion.
come on man...surely you've played pickup ball before.
Gotcha. Y'all had been running court and they expected y'all to move. Definitely a prick move.
