I guess my question is will we continue to see us rotating running backs as we have to this point or will Lacy and TJ begin to garner more of the carries as competition gets tougher??
In Travis's "Trips" story today he mentioned it going more towards a two man rotation. I think having the current rotation is playing well on the recruiting front from a running back perspective. Is that the motivation behind us playing as many as we currently are, or is it more to allow them to showcase their talent and get game experience -- probably all of the above.
Anyway, sure was impressed with Drake this past weekend. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out. RTR

I imagine we will run by "committee" until the opposition becomes tougher.
IMO we know the two main backs are - Yeldon and Lacy. Both have split 30 carries a piece, but it is very hard for someone to carry the entire load as much as we gameplan around our RBs. See TR3. This however gives Yeldon and Lacy fresh legs, and competition to get better.
Yeldon is pushing Lacy, Drake is pushing Yeldon, Hart is pushing Drake.....and all around. But barring injury i dont see Drake or Hart getting carries against LSU, or in closer games. There is not much difference in Drake in Yeldon imo, besides the small things that Saban looks for. (blocking, receiving). Yeldon and Lacy can do what Trent did the majority of the time last year. Then we can pound people with a mix of Drake and Hart. This also limits injuries. Its the best strategy to do this without a true #1 RB, instead have 3-4 #1 RB's.
LSU does the same thing, running back by comittee.
Don't know if y'all follow drake on twitter, but it seems like from some of his comments that he could be unhappy with his # of carries. I'm probably reading too much into it, but I just get that vibe sometimes. I think he's a hell of a player so I'd hate to see him get attitude issues.
To the original point, I agree that we'll see more of a two man rotation in bigger games.
When I think about the LSU game I really start to miss Fowler. Would love to watch him pound those guys.
Has Hart or Drake had any meaningful carries? That should answer your question.
I would think Hart before Drake. To this point Drake hasn't had a carry before the third qtr or before we were 4 or 5 tds ahead. I don't call that running back by committee. I call that 4th and 5th stringers getting carries when the game is out of hand.
I would be surprised to see anyone besides Lacy and Yeldon getting carries in close games unless someone gets hurt. I would think it would be Hart next in line also in that scenario.
As it goes along I'm thinking/hearing the staff is liking the home run threat that drake is
Lacy and Yeldon will get the bulk of the carries as the competition toughens and the games are close in 3rd and 4th qtrs.
JMO but Hart is best in space. He's too small for pass protection.
Drake would be the #3 RB in my world.
You keep running three as much as you can and a fourth when possible. Anything can happen as we saw with Fowler. Better to have another man ready. That guy is Drake IMHO. Even against Bama, LSU found time for four guys, we have enough time for three. Keeping legs fresh for Q4 matters a lot.
If we could play a team good enough to force us to play our starters in the 4th quarter, I think we would see Yeldon and Lacy finish games with around 20 carries each. Hart might get 5 - 7 snaps and I doubt Drake would get on the field as a RB in those games.
I love Drake !! But he is only a TRUE Freshman and he has gotten carries in every game and those carries have been increasing...
What is there to complain about and what did he Expect?? !!! 4 4/5 stars in front of him
Drake doesn't complain. He is a great representative for Alabama and college sports in general.

I see them using as many as possible to keep them fresh as long as they are productive..Of course that is JMO...RTR
