Basically said that's he's been medically cleared and they may have to consider plugging him back in the rotation.
As of now, he's set to redshirt.

I wondered about that but I'd still be surprised. He is obviously a special talent for it to even be considered.

Play Black if we need to.What does this say about Shinn,Woodson and Cyrus Jones that we have to burn Black's redshirt?
It says nothing about them. If Black plays then it's because of depth. Basically another injury to the position and his redshirt is most likely gone.
Folks, Black is a damn good receiver.

Not to hijack, but someone in this very thread roasted me last night for suggesting the possibility of this scenario. He is now totally in agreement with the idea. Why are we sooooo quick to flame fellow posters on this site, I'll never understand. Happy for Chris if he gets to play.
I'll flesh out my thoughts some more. Assuming Black is healthy enough to play:
**I feel that if Black can contribute in this game he will play.
**If he is good enough to leave us after 3 years then we might as well play him this game.
**If he is good enough to leave us after 4 years then we might as well play him.
**Now, if we think he needs the redshirt, and think he needs the full 5 years here then don't play him.
Let's be honest though the way Saban recruits, we don't go after guys that we think will have to be here all five years (with exception of course). Most of our playmakers are going to 3 or 4 years and out. Everything I read about Chris screamed playmaker. I think this has potential to be a real cool storyline and much needed asset that is now freed up. I think if he plays and has a big game it's also a win win. He plays great and we win then add another SEC title onto our intro movie. If he plays and does great then other recruits will notice how many freshmen have an impact on Alabama's team.
I agree. But is he "game ready"? His first game would be in the SEC Championship game, not against a Western Carolina or some mop up team.
Well since we are do depleted my 5 cents says he plays if he is 100%. Make sense?
Thats up for the coaches to decide. They wouldnt burn a redshirt for depth purposes. They wld burn it if they thought he could come in and help the team.
makes sense to me.
