Did anyone at BDS on Saturday besides me listen to the list of accomplishments that were read for all the members of the gymnastics team while receiving their national championship rings? Sarah Patterson is the best kept secret in women's athletics. The academic achievements are amazing and the athletic success speaks for itself. Maybe when Mal retires she will get a nod for AD, and why not. She certainly has the resume for it. How blesssed is UA to have her and CNS to complement one another. I still think she deserves a statue also. RTR!
I'm not sure she has the educational background that will be required for our next AD. Not a knock on her, just a statement to how the AD environment has evolved over the years.
She's unquestionably an amazing coach. But, that doesn't mean she would be an amazing our even decent AD. I would much rather see the next AD go to someone with substantial experience running a multi million dollar athletic department or sports franchise.
I do agree about the statue though (g)
Actually heard a few people discussing this since Mal Moore had that recent health care. While I am not sure about her academic qualifications, I am sure that she would do a great job.

...and Mal does? No flame, just asking. I know more than I need to know and will leave it at that

No, I don't think he does, but he has been 'grandfathered' in per se.
Edit to be a little more clear, what I'm trying to say is the AD requirements are different now than what they were in '99. When we make a new hire, I doubt we hire someone with Coach Mal's background.

Maybe true, but not particularly relevant. Moore got the job several years ago, and the job has evolved significantly since then. And let's face it...Moore was likely only one more bad hire away from being fired/forced to retire.
Nick Saban will be offered the job when Moore retires. Maybe not publicly...and he likely won't take it...but he's going to have to tell someone no.
If you're tired of an awesome football program, put a word in for Patterson. She is no friend of the football program.

University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
I am by no means making any endorsement for CSP to be our next AD but one thing I do know is that she completely understands that Alabama is a "football" school. I have heard her say many times that she is very greatful for our success in football and that it allows her program to succeed. She was hired by Coach Bryant and has frequently stated that when she started recruiting to Alabama in the beginning it was the "prestige" of the football program that allowed her to attract better gymansts to a young gymnastics program. I think she has certainly embraced the Alabama "football first" culture and not fought it like so many "smaller" sports programs and that is one of the reasons she has bulit a winning program here.
I'm not in favor of this.
I got one word for you........NO.
