See you could have contributed to a thread that I started earlier that appears to have been deleted. Who knew all the codgers on this site liked Tyler Hayes so much?

I just talked to one of the players Mother(We went to HS together) and she was saying that Castillo was a wreck after the game and his parents were pissed....She also said that Dax Norris is terrible as a pitching coach her son is a pitcher and says that his HS coach knows more about pitching than Norris....RTR
I want Bobby Pierce or somebody else
Pray for Tuscaloosa and Roll Tide!
Bobby has told me he wouldn't take the Bama job if they backed a Brinks truck to his door. The Wells re-hire soured Pierce badly on his alma mater.
Concerning yesterday's ninth inning and no mound visit, did anyone notice that neither our senior C or senior 3B went to the mound to settle Ray down either? Inexcusable for Gaspard to stay in the dugout and for senior leaders not do anything as well.
He didn't have a visit left without pulling him.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
Ok, needs to forget about that Wells re-hire, its over. Battle is on it. I never wanna see MG again. Sick watching that 9th inning, sums up MG all in one bottom half of an inning.
That poor kid had NO stuff from the VERY first pitch in the 9th. I had sort of let Mitch ride based on what I thought was a good managing job this season, given the youth of this team, but all that good will was wiped away for me in the 9th inning Sunday, after he let an 18-19 year old true frosh twist in the wind with no safety net. Not saying he needed to be pulled, but, even I could tell he was not "on". I don't understand it.
1960 Les Paul
We can do far better than Pierce. He would get absolutely blistered week-in, week-out in the SEC. In 11 seasons (split between the A-Sun and Sun Belt,) he's finished within a game of .500 in his league 5 times. He's had two losing conference records, including last season. If he's a marginal coach in a bad league with comparable talent to what he'd have at Alabama, why would anyone have any faith whatsoever in him going up against the best teams in the country every damn week? Far cry from playing Middle Tennessee when you're in front of 11,000 drunk degenerates in Baton Rouge or Starkville.
Going back to 2008 (6 seasons,) Pierce's record against the SEC is 7-16 in the regular season. That's almost entirely made up of games vs Bama/Auburn. You have to go all the way back 4 years to 2010 to find the LAST time Troy had the balls to schedule an SEC team in the regular season, when they were swept by Arkansas. How is it.....a perennially good mid-major in the heart of SEC country practically NEVER plays other SEC teams outside its own state? Don't feed me the "nobody will play them" BS. Entirely untrue and a total cop-out.

RE: Mitch, I've cooled off a little bit after what admittedly was a pretty heated thread on here after yesterday's meltdown (and deservedly so.)
I like Mitch. Not to a fault, mind you, but I think he's generally a good guy, good recruiter, understands the issues inherent to our program - i.e. - general lack of giveadamn by the administration, piss-poor facilities, and lottery void hamstringing us on scholarships - and has been around the block in the SEC enough to not be intimidated by the job. He's well-liked by the players and knows how to connect with parents and recruits. He's not overly aggressive promoting the program, but he's good with the media and makes the program accessible when it needs to be. I'd like to see him out selling it more, but I'd like a lot of things that probably won't happen.
Plain and simple, he has to get rid of Andy. We need someone who can blow this team up from a fundamental hitting approach and re-build them from scratch. Start over on Day 1 with the basics and find someone who knows what they're doing, not someone who's only there because he still wants to wear a jersey and get to sit in a dugout 4 or 5 times a week. Our general cluelessness at the plate killed us this year. Our Friday night pitcher was 5-7 on the season and WASN'T THAT BAD all year. That shows you how awful our run support was for him.
Mitch has recruited extremely well, despite all of the challenges. We just need someone to develop the talent. I could take Dax or leave him, but I won't be upset if he's given another season. Our battery was generally not the problem this year, and we have a lot of arms coming back.
All in all, I fully expected at the beginning of this season to be in the cellar of the league again and did not think we'd make Hoover or a regional. Guys like Roberts, Booth and Smith took a lot on themselves to improve and lead, and the freshmen were fantastic in the field. But we have some holes. Hopefully Wass comes back healthy and we won't miss Booth behind the plate. We need to find guys to man the corners of the infield, and another arm or two wouldn't hurt. Losing Miller is addition by subtraction, and I think Salem and Moore will form a nice 2/3 of our outfield next season.
Next year will be better....how much better depends on whether we find another power hitter and what happens on our bench.
