First off, I will support Grant and the team but I don't think Grant is the man for the job. Remember how everyone complained about Gottfried's offensive progression? There's no way you can legitimately complain about his offense and be ok with what Grant is doing offensively. I know this is not a year for us to be competitive or make any kind of a run so I'm almost questioning some games if it's better to lose or win? Losses bring in a newer coach after the year or next year. Wins delay the inevitable. Either way football keeps a smile on my face.
With all that said...have you guys taken a good look at the upcoming conference schedule after the Kentucky game? It's scary how bad the conference is! We are 3-1 right now with Kentucky on Tuesday night. If we win that somehow and go 4-1...our next 10 games are against (in no particular order) Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Vandy, South Car, Arkansas, Miss State and Tennessee. ALL of those teams are bad, below average basketball teams. Arkansas is probably the toughest on that list and we get them at home. This year the conference schedule is 18 games but as bad as those teams are, we have a really good shot at finishing in the top 3-4 of the conference this year. I highly doubt we win all 10 of those but anywhere from 8-2 to 10-0 is possible if we build some momentum. Could you imagine if we were 12-3 to 14-1 after that stretch with Florida, Ole Miss and UGA to finish?
Who knows what will happen with this team but the way the schedule sits, it's scary to think we could be given a first round bye in the conference tournament this year. The 3 seed in the SEC could miss the big dance lol!
Just thought I'd mention this and who knows...maybe it will give us some fun from the end of signing day until A-Day.
Trying to figure out if this is a positive or negative post
More of a down the middle and torn post Vinny. I want the team to do well but I also don't think Grant is the right man long term. As far as the schedule portion of the post...just found it shocking that we could have a realistic shot at being so high in the conference standings come March.
I want CAG to succeed but understand the frustration with this team. The offense IMO has suffered from lack of balance; first years no perimeter game then now no inside game. Last year the O should gave been solid. I'm willing to wait another year but my concern is that I don't see a solution with the current players or recruiting for a good inside O.
You could go head-to-head against Kentucky for a recruit and get him to sign with you? You could get a 5* recruit from another state?
Dude, quit posting about Bama hoops. You make the most asinine comments. I'm not sure what's worse though, making ridiculous statements or doing so with 1st grade level grammar.
I agree with OP about the how weak the SEC is in basketball. I don't think I have ever seen it this bad.
Not sure how an unbiased objective view gets 5 down votes but hey...happy Sunday to you guys as well!
I usually stay away from threads like this,,,, but Bama recruits Georgia HARD!...
So are you claiming our national championship. Just remember your comments after the T Am game had to ask
R.I.P Freddie Parker
Agree 100%. "Dude" needs to step up his posting...at least to the level of gems like this from the in-game thread from the blowout in Starkville:
"2 points at the under 16 TO.
Grant, stay your ass in Starkville."
Sound familiar? Talk about asinine comments.
At 6:42, the power is out at Humphrey Coliseum.
The game vs. Alabama is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CSS).
I don't mind the post, but the username pisses me off for some reason. Oh well.
Look, its not your fault that you are uninformed about HS bball recruiting. Some really dont know. Its really really tough nowadays. AAU has completely ruined it all, as has the NCAA with that crap 1 year rule. One problem in recruiting is because everyone knows our recruiters aren't cut out for the job. I believe we use mainly just 2 on staff for the bulk of it and its not good enough. The other problem in recruiting is evaluation. Everyone got so happy with a few 4 stars and thought that means recruiting was good. It all started for me when a certain PG got a scholly to play for us a few years ago. CAG for whatever reason thought he was good enough. No clue what he saw in this to think scholly spot. Flat ridiculous. Another is, You cant recruit guys that havent played the game that long. And how long can a school keep going without recruiting guys that are made to shoot? Get a few more guys that are shooters and then teach em defense in college. Dont recruit em all for defense and hope they learn how to shoot in college. CAG knows how to coach defense! So recruit your weakness, and coach to your strengths!! What a marvel idea.
Or...maybe guys just dont think too much about this program right now...I say find new and better assistants. Ones that know todays game.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
with as bad as our conference is, we have to beat florida and ole miss to get any quality wins...12 wins, which we wont get, wont be enough i dont think
Agreed! Bamaman8, just go look under the basketball recruiting tab and hit Bama targets and you will see we recruit Gawga hard. It helps to do some research and know what you are talking about before spouting off. RTR!!!
I think we have a terrific shot at 12 or 13 conference wins, just don't know if that will still be enough to get us back into the NCAAs. Winning Tuesday night against Kensucky would be a big step in the right direction. One thing CAG usually does is, beat teams we should beat, so give the man some credit. Enjoy the ride guys, it is always interesting, everyone just needs to relax more and quit all the knee-jerk reactions. That is a major problem in our fast-food, I want it now mentality of a society. RTR!!!
I downvoted you because you don't believe CAG is the man for the job and I disagree. Change just for the sake of change doesn't do anyone any good. Continuity is needed in coaching. It is doubtful to me that we can get anyone better to T-town than CAG. Patience is what is needed. CAG has done much better in his first four years at UA than Coach K did in his first four years at Duke. I'm not saying, nor expecting a Coach K type of run by CAG, but I do believe he is the best man for our job. Imo, CAG does need to promote the program much more than he does presently and that is up to Mal Moore to require him to do. Also, a new, more offensive mind needs to be added to the staff, if that means pushing Hisphir on to retirement, then so be it. RTR!!!
Good, another stalker.
You and wesleypotter have a cup of coffee this morning and discuss me? Find another hobby.
Deflection 101. You have a bright future in politics.
Hey, Ixxy, it just goes to show that you just can't fix stupid. And we have some stupid fans. Some you can just attribute it to being young. This guy is just stupid. No excuse. Theta just got caught being a dumbass...now he's just being a pu$$y.
When a guy posts like a f**king moron, he's going to get called out for being a moron. Doesn't take a "stalker" to remember posts that are so monumentally stupid. With a post rate of 16 per day for almost two full years, you'd thing the guy would have learned that by now.

You're taking the internet a little too seriously. Go outside and try to meet a girl to occupy your time instead of following me around.
