Evil just seems to be everywhere; hopefully the officer & employeed will be ok.
Al.com is reporting the injuries to the victims are non life threatening and the shoot was shot and killed by a police officer.
My sister works there....2 days ago a guy was overheard on the phone telling someone to bring a gun to the hospital so he could shoot everyone...comes back the next day to get readmitted and they refused him, he then said he was going to blow the hospital up....wanting pills....don't know if its the same guy yet but I'm guessing it is....world is crazy...this is why I conceal carry everywhere I go....more good law abiding citizens need more guns than bad non law abiding citizens
ThaRizz works on that floor. Hope he's okay. Prayers sent.
Prayers sent. It was a scary morning for me I know when I heard and couldn't get in touch.
My god...what a world we live in, huh?
Prayer's sent !
I just got home. The shooting occurred in the hallway of the CVICU which is my unit. A coworker and myself were leading the group that got tired on literally until we were about to round the corner that the shooting occurred. The policeman who was shot said I needed to step aside or not lead or it wasn't safe or something like that so I let then walk by and started telling the other policemen that the corridor to the right was a semi circle that connected at the end of the hall. Some of them needed to to they say bc there are elavators in case the guy tried getting out. They had already announced his location overhead and if I were him I'd have been a ghost. Well were leading, cop says something, I stop, Blake runs and shuts the double doors to Stepdown and maybe 6 seconds pass from then to the shooting. I was about 2 steps around the corner in that corridor thankfully. I took off down the stairs to MICU where there were locked doors and got on the phone. 5west answered a minute or 2 later and said they had the guy but a police officer was down and needed some help. Ran back upstairs. Chaos! We sheets and towels and tied off above the gun shot wounds and I started an IV for the cop and opened up some fluids. We had everyone at least one IVand 2 bags of fluids being pumped in by the time stretchers got there from the ER. Crazy crazy night. Once everything is official ill give y'all details. It's still under investigation so I don't want to share anything too in depth.
You'll never achieve great things until you believe that's what's supposed to happen
First, I'm very, very happy you're alive and everyone is ok ( I could care less about the shooter after these last few days). Two, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE IDIOTS?
There's been two shootings in Tuscaloosa the last four days, and that's just what I know about......
Glad everybody is basically ok. I work on the MICU at another Birmingham hospital and we have actually talked about what if this ever happened and what we would do. I guess you don't really know until it happens. Scary thought though. You never know what a grieving or irrational person is going to do. Also want to send out a big thank you to greys anatomy for making hospital employees paranoid about this kind of thing.
I was there while it happened. Heard something about a Code Silver, I think. It went crazy from there.
i was thinking about you when i got the message this morning! glad you are ok! prayers for everyone involved.
The initial code silver was to the ER lobby. As I said ill give details once police meet. But I went the back way into the actual ER to see what was going on. They told me the situation and they were locking everything down. I left thinking I was going to warn 5west and our unit but once I got out on 5south me and Blake were just a few steps ahead of the contingent of policemen and a few employees. Blake lead them through the Stepdown and I led them through 5west and we met back up in the waiting room. The hallway that runs the length of CVICU to 5main where we were going connects to that waiting room. Cop says something to me, Blake takes care of a few things, group walks on by for just a second. I point to a connecting corridor and tell the cops it loops around and a few of them ran down and I follow behind. Literally as soon as I walked out of the hallway gun shots start and I peaced it out until I heard it was clear. I feel certain if not for they cop I'm taking of the 5 bullets the 3 guys got. Unnerving now that I can process it all.
Thanks for the thoughts crew! It means a lot. Please send some prayers up for the nurse and tech and policeman. I checked with the ED doc and she said they were stable and nothing appeared to be serious. It really didn't have to come to that.
The nurse that told us about the incident this morning had some harsh words for ER security. Apparently, they let anyone who says "hello" into the hospital without much delay.
Wow, glad you are ok. Great job.
Kudos to the cop for taking that guy out.
Glad you guys are okay. Praying for those injured. What unit was the nurse from that got shot?
He was the house supervisor on duty.
Glad that everyone is going to be ok. Yesterday and now this is just a very saddening weekend. It's crazy when teachers and medical personnel can't go to work without having a "what if this happened" thought before they leave to go.
I heard it was a distraught husband whose wife died in the hospital and he blamed the staff.
