I fear with the wheels coming off they may can him and get a decent coach...in my perfect world, the Barn would give him a lifetime contract. So what say you--would you rather Jim turns it around, gets 6 wins and limps to the Pizza Bowl in Birmingham so maybe he keeps his job....or would it be worth the risk to have hte enjoyment of a COMPLETE meltdown???
1960 Les Paul
Let's face it, if they fire Chiz, they aren't going to end up with a worse coach. I'd rather they get to 5 wins, still be ineligible for a bowl (lose that month of practice they need), and hope that's enough to give him one more year.
never pull for them to win anything. if they fire chiz two years after winning a bcs title, they will not get a decent coach. last time they hired a coach, they were a decent program and had to settle on a 5-19 coach. what kind of coach are they going to get now that they are a terrible program?
...but a lateral move is likely. Who would they get that's better?
I completely agree. We all want Chizik to stay for a very long time but if the wheels come completely off (which they probably already have) then he's gone and a better coach will be hired. Looked I'm not scared of any hire they make b/c we have Saban but the longer they have Chizik the better off we will be and the more fun we will have. With that said there's no way I'm pulling for them.
If I were them, I'd roll the dice on a top, young assistant. Maybe that strike gold. If not, he probably won't be worse than the Chiz.
Never ever under any circumstances pull for anything or anyone with the barn. RTR
i agree. i'd like them 1-11 but i'm sure jim wouldnt survive that. soooooo i think 5-7 and he still keeps his job. i like where you are with this. RTR.
It's a mistake to automatically assume that the next guy will be better. He may not be.
A huge meltdown accompanied by player dissension and staff unrest is always preferable. They will lose their recruiting class. Chaos, change in offensive and defensive coordinators, etc., etc.
If they lose the next two games back to back against Ole Miss and Vanderbilt - and they probably will, I don't see how he survives. They will not beat TAMU, UGA, LSU, or Bama. Who else is on their schedule? It could get even uglier.

5 wins,No bowl, Chiz stays ......perfect scenario
They just renewed him so he's good through next year IMO.
And next year he could get 7 wins so that ciud keep him around 1 more year.
John L. will be available.
I'm for Jim!!!
I would say a close win against Vandy, and nice win vs. Ala. A&M, and a shocker upset over UGA would be just about right. 4-8 with one big late season upset would kill their recruiting but make him a little tougher to fire.

Another thing to think about...if Chizik goes...Jeremy Johnson will go to Ole Miss. That leaves them with no QB on in this class. Also will probably loss others like Trey Johnson, Dee Liner, and maybe RF.
All roads lead to petrino ? sooner or later?
