Or was there a reason we saw him and not Ely?

God, give me patience today. If given strength I may beat someone to death.
We have a new/different offensive wrinkle that features Blake Sims. Saban took the cover off it last Saturday. Ely can't run that offensive set, as it was designed specifically for Blake.
Perry got the start over Sunseri at Strong Safety because Vinnie was out of position several times against Michigan.
Just wish he would have come in earlier like with 10 min left and a chance to move the ball and see what he can do.
I don't think it was a wrinkle at all. I just think Blake (as of last Saturday) is our backup qb. I doubt teams will spend any time preparing for a qb that has not really played a meaningful down yet. ( not knocking Blake, rooting for his success).
Considering he ran the read option almost every snap he was out there, I think Saban wants to get him some in-game experience running that play. So yes, I think its a wrinkle. If nothing else, it might give an opposing D something to practice for.
Lester and Vinnie play SS. HaHa and Nick play FS. Check the presser notes
