I was bored and looked up a few numbers of other new stadiums or renovated stadiums throughout the country. For $20-30 million we should be able to have one of the best stadiums in the country. The most expensive renovation is $24 million and what A&M built looks great. For that price whatever we build should put us at least in the top 5 in the nation, not just the SEC.
LSU - $37.8 million
Tennessee - $15 million (renovation)
South Carolina - $35.6 million
Arkansas $8.9 million (1996)
Auburn - $4.2 million (renovation)
Ole Miss - $18.5 million (renovation)
Texas A&M - $24 million (renovation)
Florida State - $12 million (renovation)
Texas $18 million (renovation)
So many memories from the Joe I'm not sure how I'd feel seeing it demolished. A new park would be awesome but where to put it? Could it fit on the Bryce property without bothering the RV parking and not create a disaster should softball also be hosting a home game?
The campus has seen so many new buildings I don't see a spot where a new stadium could fit.
If you want a new stadium it seems you'd have to completely demolish the Joe and re-build from the ground up.
Also, I'd reconfigure the parking for the law school/Coleman/the Joe. Perhaps build a parking deck that goes along the tracks similar to what Auburn has going for Plainsman Park.
