NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported the veteran running back agreed to terms on a deal Thursday with the Atlanta Falcons, according to a team source. ESPN's Adam Schefter had the first report.
Former St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson wanted to join a contender, and on Thursday he got his wish. Jackson has agreed to a contact with the Atlanta Falcons.
Was just going to post that. I kind of doubt the Falcons will take Eddie Lacy now

that's a bummer.
Don't see Lacy going there anymore.
Steven Jackson will be 30 when the season starts, I think the Falcons probably have bigger needs on D but I don't think this 100% eliminates Lacy from their board.
I didn't think the Falcons would pull the trigger on this one. Could've gotten a solid back in the middle of the draft for much less cash than Jackson.
Never Gets Old
I think they feel like they very close to a real run next year. They could rack up on the free agent market
Their offense is now virtually unstoppable. They will draft a pass rusher in 1st round and maybe a tight end in 2nd to take over when Tony G leaves. Probably draft another corner and an outside linebacker. If Steven J only costs about 4 mill a yr, it was a good move.
Maybe this means Eddie Lacey to the rams

Saw this one coming from a mile away. Falcons looking to win now.
I don't know about unstoppable. Matt Ryan still has a ways to go. Everytime the game is one the line, the only person he wants to throw to is Roddy white. Looks at the last play against the 49s. Had tony g wide open on a slant and had Julio one on one to the outside. Who does he throw to? A completely covered roddy white with three defenders around him
i think it is a great move. The rams have under utilized jackson the past couple of years, imo
Nice quick fix. Dude runs like a champ. Saints better get some front 7 help.

green bay gonna take lacey now imo
That was my thinking too. They have to get a solid rb for this season.

seems like a perfect fit.
Good move by the Falcons, Jackson still has some years in the tank. I saw a stat the other night that there's only four other RB's in NFL History that have had more consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. Didn't get a ton of fanfare playing in St. Louis all these years either.
Would have to disagree with you on that one. Not on that particular play, yes he went to Roddy, but overall he does not focus in on Roddy.
Glad that we got Jackson, but was really hoping for Lacy.
Flip side, damn we really need a DE and if Lacy had been that at 30 and we didn't have Jackson, how could we have passed on him?
Great move they now have enough cap space to resign Grimes. All that is left is to pack up and head up to NYC and address the psss rush april 25 going to be intersting if they switch to a 3-4 they already have a few good interior linemen in babineux peters and peria jerry they could slide out to the ends and somebody like big jessie could get a look in the first round which is what I am hoping.

This is my hopes... GB needs a running threat.
