A lot has been made of the officiating in the loss yesterday, but that didnt ultimately cost us a chance to win the game. What did cost us that chance was the lack of urgency from the moment the ball was inbounded on the last possession. Releford took too long to get the ball over half court and Steele took too long to pass the ball to Lacey and Lacey took too long to try to get a shot off. Any one of the three could've taken the last shot yet each of the three passed up that opportunity. Lacey put himself in position to shoot over Stokes with a step back towards the corner but instead of rising up and shooting he made a pump fake and tried to draw the foul.
It was like we thought we were up one instead of down one and I dont see, coming out of a TO, how could we not demonstarte more urgency. It was a tough loss and Im not going to try to define why exactly we didnt come through with at least an attempted shot during those last ten seconds but you have to wonder why this team has such mighty struggles in the half court offense.
The 3pt reversal call in the first half was bs
Didn't like the call but they called it a 2 on the floor, the scorekeeper put it up as a 3. The last play was way too slow to develop, and yes, there should have been a foul. Though with our poor free throw shooting, who knows 5-11.
I remember thinking I sure hope we dont lose this game by one point and disregarding that thought. Does anybody know why we dont dribble drive more? Steele and Releford did a couple of times but with a four guard lineup why do we not get guys going to the basket and having someone come open when the defense breaks down? This should be part of every half court offensive possession!
I had the same thought when it happened.
