What does it matter? Whether sit our starters at the half vs WCU or Purdue...either way we sit our starters.
I'll never understand this. A team plays 4-5 ranked foes, plays a tough league schedule, yet everyone wants to focus on 2 weak OOC games. As if every other team doesn't have patsies on their schedule.
I guess the only way to please people is to play a top 15 foe in 12 consecutive weeks. Why are non-SEC schools who play crappy teams in conference not held to the same standard?
If team A gets to play 5-6 patsies IN CONFERENCE, why are they not judged by the same standard?
Jack Arute was blasting away yesterday at Bama and the SEC because according to him, South Carolina having to play UGA, @LSU, @Fla in consecutive weeks was "no different" than what Oregon had to do. And that SEC teams "play the WKUs and WCUs of the world."
Oregon's schedule was a joke. He kept going on and on about how they had to play Stanford. But completely ignored the fact that before Stanford they played: Colorado, Southern Cal, California. One average team, two crappy teams. Oregon beat ONE ranked team all year. One. And it was an Oregon St team who couldn't even beat Texas in their bowl.
I think we all knew the SEC was down this year - just because ESPN wants to prop up the conference they show every week doesn't mean we have anything to do with it. SEC is being exposed during bowl season but we have the last say. If we win it doesn't matter what the rest of the conference did.
Didn't the SEC have 6 teams in the top 12 of the final BCS poll. Just because teams are phoning in lame performances in the bowl season doesn't mean they are bad or overrated. Big East and ACC have great bowl records. I wish the SEC were as good as those conferences. (g)
Never Gets Old
The Haters are always going to pick out whatever fits their angle. Doesn't matter what the whole picture says...that doesn't fit what they want people to know about us. But, I typed this in another thread...
I would rather have them ALL talking good and bad about us, than not talking at all. If their not talking, were not playing in the game that matters most!
Beat the irish!
Wonder what they talk about Tuesday morning after we win?
"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
Yeah, the SEC was down and poor au still went 0-8. You really had to have sucked not to have won a conference game this year. Just had to point that out :-) and no doubt as long as we bring home the crystal, I could give a rats ass about the LSUs,gators and the bulldogs.
It's not like Wake Forrest, Navy, and Pitt are that much better. They should all be gimmie wins.
Boston College too. BC and WF both went 2-10.
Jack Arute use to be Notre Dame sidel-line reporter.

And this has always been my point when people want to talk about top teams playing directional or FCS schools.
At the end of the day, an elite team playing a crappy team - it won't matter the level of crappy. Either crappy team would lose by a huge margin and in either scenario the elite team is resting its starters. So because team A has a good "name" or was good 20 years ago and team B is a directional from Idaho...it doesn't matter one bit.
