"The (All In) Family"
Is this something you've heard from them or your guess?
Would be hilarious if they got Freeze or Fisher - neither will reach the standards that UTex has for its program.
mack brown isn't done at texas, yet.
Art Briles would be a homerun for Texas.
Sorry but I gotta chime in ...why do the terms "realistic" and "Gruden" make this list? Its been 22 years since Gruden was coaching a college sideline. Not to mention he has 1 year of college experience as position coach, back in 1991 at PITT. Not knocking his credentials as a coach, Because he's a great football coach but college is 24/7/365. Theres a reason why he isnt an NFL coach right now. He doesnt want to be one at this point in life. As he has said numerous times. Its way more realistic that he's not the coach at TEX.
IMO, they reach out to current NFL assistants or coaches.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
Any of those would be great but if fisher takes that job, I'd be willing to bet that Kirby gets the FSU job & I do not want that to happen. He would be tremendous there, not to mention cherry picking a couple of our coaches to go with him.

Freeze wouldn't have to pay 5* 's to come join his team if he went to UT.

Don't forget Charlie Strong. He would fit well at Texas. Strong D coach, with willingness to run spread/high power offense. From and played in Arkansas with deep recruiting roots in Florida.
The Horns could do far worse.
Give Briles that type of talent and he will be a beast. Just needs to hire the right defensive staff.
From all I have heard out here it's Briles, Peterson and freeze in that order.
I agree about Strong...Here's some others I'd consider
Dana Holgorsen - has ties to Texas with stops at TTech and Houston, not to mention Okie State
Bob Petrino - Not sure he's that great of a coach, but a lot of people disagree with me
Jack Delrio - USC is rumored to be looking at him though
Les Miles - Proven he can recruit in a talent laden state. Would UT boosters put up with his antics?
Kirby Smart - IMHO Smart should have gone after/taken the USM job, needs to prove he can win at a mid-major before taking a major gig.
James Franklin - Resume stands for itself
Gary Patterson - Has already done very well for himself at one of the smaller Texas schools

Briles would seem to be the hottest name...If USC does not come calling.
If USC or Tex hires Art Briles, those fans should be pissed. Hiring a 58 year old coach who's only known for offense. Horrid is the word I would describe his defenses as a head coach. Yes I know Baylor gives up only 7.7 points a game so far this season, but they played Wofford, Buffalo, and ULM. I would have to double check but he's never had a top 85 defense since being a head coach. Gives up an average of over 30 points a game as a head coach. Just grabbing a good DC deosnt make you better on defense. Gotta be game planned in there somehow and the faster you go on offense, the more plays the defense sees the field. Im just saying that if I want a championship(s) I dont wanna guy who only knows offense. Offense doesnt win rings. Briles' defensive ranks as Baylor head coach are as follows..
2011- #116 (5th worst nationally)
2012- #123 (2nd worst nationally)
***See a pattern of ultimate digression here? If you like offense, hes your man. If you want rings, lol, no chance!
no mention of Golden at Miami? He will be gone quick.
I mentioned it earlier in another thread, or this one. Can't remember.
How about lane kiffin heard he recently became unemployed lol!
This. When Tennessee was searching for a coach I was constantly telling my Tennessee buddies he would not be a home run hire. He is charismatic and knows offense, but he doesn't the first thing about recruiting. He would make headlines but have no substance. Just my opinion of course.
I pray Shaw is not the guy USC or TX targets. He gets it, punish you along the lines.
1. Will Muschamp
2. Hugh Freeze
I'm not sure Tejas is smart enough to hire Strong. I do think he would do a very good job there. Briles is the hire if UT can get over their arrogance . Which I'm not sure they can. I've been told by a UT supporter it would be like Alabama hiring Vandy's coach. I don't think the guy realizes that Vandy has one heck of a good coach.
