I hope everything turns around for you!
I gotta say this is great ending to a really horrid day. I sat down with my wife to determine what we could cut and she didn't want me to miss out on this site, but I told her that it would be here for a long time. It was here before I signed on and it will be here long after. And the reason why is gestures like this.
Now, I know that if things were to go to another level, we wouldn't be on the streets (Lord knows we still have a roof over our head and at the present I still have my job) and we'd have family to help us out, but the fact that I worked my butt off to get where I am and to feel that knot in my stomach constantly that tomorrow my job could be eliminated really sucks. I just know that as a grown man, in today's world, it's really heartbreaking to see myself and others like me work so hard for little to no reward.
Some of you know me outside of this site and if you are friends with me on facebook you know that the situation with my job has not been the best since the buffoons at Jefferson County decided to have a fire sale. It is what it is. People lose their jobs everyday. But you know, I've got to keep on pressing and I'm sure there are many on here that feel the same.
So far, 2013 has not been all that kind to me with the exception of really two things: 1. Bama won the National Championship, 2. My BOL brethren and Lucky. When I look back and look these two things it makes me proud to be a Bama fan. It makes me proud to be an alumnus. It makes me proud to call BOL one of my virtual homes.
God Bless you all.
A friend of mine sent me a message earlier telling me that this thread blew up and it honestly brought a tear to my eye. You guys are great and I'm very appreciative to call myself a Bama fan. I've said Roll Tide since I can remember and will continue to say it until I die.
Praise the Lord for people like our Bama brothers & sisters & Lucky and staff. They are THE BEST! In times like these when things are so tough and the world is closing in, it does help so much to read BOL every day. It will especially be great for Moose to be able to keep up recruiting on BOL/ it's such an exciting time. Moose, know that you and your family are in my prayers and you will go to the top of our prayer chain for sure. When a door closes, God opens another in time. God Bless & RTR
BOL 1, everyone else 0
We are pulling for you, Moose and those that pray are saying prayers for you.
Lucky, I've been down on my luck recently and....
Seriously, class move, brother.
Keep your head up Moose -- we have all been there.
We've all need help... and we all need support from our friends.
Long story short ... I had just turned 25, had a young daughter and didn't have a dime to my name, and no job and no prospects of one. A friend invited me to lunch and offered to teach me entry level programming. He gave me a couple jobs and some hope. A year later we started a business together (completely unrelated). That business later became Rivals and my friend became CTO and one of the largest investors. Today he is one of the largest investors in 247Sports and retired. He did a huge favor for me by pointing me in a direction. I am forever indebted to Greg and it makes my so happy that he is now retired and living out his dream.
My point is that every one of us has been there, and if someone hasn't, they likely will be. Stay positive, pray a lot and keep grinding. We appreciate your contributions to BOL and hope you find this little slice a break from the struggles of your everyday -- I know that I do.
