I have to believe the facts of the situation are that Poggi is a UA take and commit. First, the father is a coach and has a personal relationship with CNS. Given Coach Saban's relationship and Michigan's policy on visits, the last thing Saban is going to do is put Poggi in a bad situation with Michigan unless he is dead serious about coming to UA. I'm sure CNS had the talk: Please don't visit unless you are dead serious about coming here as I don't want to see you get hurt at Michigan. Even if Michigan is willing to make an exception here because of Cyrus, you dont want to put yourself in a bad position with your future school on a whimsical visit. Bad feelings carry over to the season and once you sign that paper in February, they own you.
I have to believe CNS has provided wise counsel here and the father knows the score about the recruiting process. This is not RF who changes on a dime and has been given bad advice. This is a savy football family. I would say this is a strong Bama lean as they would not have risked a visit. You know what happens when a strong Bama lean comes to campus with family...

Now, that's a sage post, right there ^^^.
Great post and analysis....this situation has a good feel to it......really good recruit.....Father is coach of high school that sent Cyrus Jones to us......has good relationship with CNS.....appears to be high character kid with close relationship to Cyrus......great teams have great coaching and players.....but the very GREAT TEAMS that reach their FULL POTENTIAL and win the MOST CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.....have good team chemistry and good perentage of HIGH CHARACTER PLAYERS.
I think Poggi is a take, but I also think he has been very candid with Michigan about this visit and he truly wants to take a shot to see what it is like at Bama. With that said, it appears Michigan is not pulling his scholarship offer, so I believe this one will play out solely on how Poggi feels at Bama. If it is better than Michigan, then he might switch.

Good Post. Well thought out, I truly hope we get this guy. Roll Tide Roll
not really that complicated,,Michigan isnt pulling his scholly..they will take him reguardless
of poggi visit,,,,wish Ma bama was right,,though
Actually, Coach Poggi has a great relationship with Coach Sal as they were room mates in college. It was a shock at Gilman when he picked Michigan over Bama.
So Michigan has a policy that they pull scholly a if a commit takes another visit?
Yes. I have read that they were not going to do this with Poggi though because "he was just coming down to visit his friend Cyrus Jones" wink wink
Hoke is a joke. He looked like a complete idiot when Dawson recommitted to them. I guess it depends on which players the rule applies to
For what position would we recruit Poggi??? DE??? He doesn't seem like 3-4 nose material.
I think the Michigan rule is that you aren't counted as a commitment if you take a visit not that they pull your scholarship offer. In other words you might still have a spot and they can continue to recruit you OR someone else may get your spot.
Not a lot unlike our "you shop, we shop" rule.
But what are the honest chances that Michigan wouldn't have a spot left if Poggi decides he wants to commit there on NSD....zero?
