Yes, that win vs. a 8-5 unranked team with a coaching staff in flux has caused everyone to take notice.
Look, I respect Stanford and what they are doing especially with their academic standards, but this win did not gain any additional respect from me.
They had my respect long before today.
They also said Stanford wants to be the Alabama of the west. Smh
Yeah I caught that comment and was like what??????? I also respect them and actually was pulling for them but thought what a dumb statement.
This is basically my point. This is not about my lack of respect for them. I respect what they're doing and have for some time, but this win didn't really enhance that IMO.

Stanford will be tough to deal with in the coming years as they play Big Boy football in the trenches.
Calling it now. 2014 & 2015 their OLine will rival Bama's 2012 OLine.
David Shaw is a future big time coach.
You get out of it what you put into it!
Would love to see UA-Stanford in Dallas in the future.
I'd love nothing more than for Stanford to mop up every west coast team out there. Shaw is a class act
Disagree, David Shaw is a stud right now. No Luck, no problem, the guy looks like the total package to me. If Saban were to leave any time soon, he'd be at the top of my list.
I love Stanford. I love how the play football. They're as close to Alabama as there is on the West Coast. I would be happy if they destroyed everybody they played out there. They're all class. So I would say they are a distant #2 behind Bama for me as my favs. #15
Agree.....I was meaning in terms of mainstream appeal/recognized as 1 of top 3-5 college coaches in the nation.
I actually think he will win a National Championship at Stanford if he stays long enough.
Yep, I'd rather see this before Bama/Wisconsin.
Look, I respect Herbie and what he does for college football and everything but a statement like that makes no sense and anyone with a brain knows it. How in the hell could a statement be made even before this game was even played? As stated above, coach leaves to Arkansas, the same coach that fired his offensive line coach midseason, the athletic director activates himself to be the head coach in the bowl game. Not to mention of five loss team Yet Stanford wins a nailbiter against the same five loss team and it's considered a statement. Whatever Herbstreit, You love being Sweden.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
With Kiffen at USC and Oregon looking at probation, David Shaw and Stanford will run that conference for the foreseeable future.
The message is (channeling my best Dennis Green), "The Big 10 is who we thought they were..."
I think UCLA with Mora will be up there too. Looks like he could bring the Bruins back from the abyss.
Offense of line coach? BOLism thread just got a new one!
You'll never achieve great things until you believe that's what's supposed to happen
Lmao. I was using Siri on the iPad and I used Siri on my iPhone a lot and I cannot get her to put "offensive". She always inputs "offense of". My bad boys, We have enough BOLisms lol
I heard that too.
But I see it as a compliment. We are the program everyone wants to imitate. Hell, even Brian Kelly has said he wants ND to be more like Alabama.
Imitation is the biggest form of flattery.
Agreed. He would be in the top 2 for coaches I would want after Saban leaves Bama.
i like Herbsrteit better than most but is he really great or just good at what he does because of the figure head azzclowns in the biz.
- see Lou, Vern, Tina Brando -
FSU looks great surrounded by others in the ACC.
UCLA might disagree with that.
Yep can't argue with that.
