Second week in a row our D forced no turnovers and 3rd down is killing us. Play well on first and second to set up 3rd and more than five. Great defenses get off the field on the third down. In the end, A&M made one more play than Bama. Also, Manzel was the best player on the field, playing the most important position on the field.
How did we get back in the game? Running the ball. 1st 2 drives of the second half, when we have a chance to seize control, we go back to passing. They adjusted on O we didn't. They called a perfect game. We didn't. Nowhere close. That my friend is getting worked.
"You feeling satisfied now Teddy?"
Something is up with AJ's shoulder. His release looks weird to me. It doesn't look natural and has a glitch when he's coming over the top. I didn't see I until the 3rd quarter so I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't paying attention earlier in the game brut he played bad and he would be the first to say it. I agree though. There's some kinda hitch in his shoulder.

How many points did LaTech score on A&M? This loss is NOT on the defense.
No Mr. Stache. AJ has an "upper back contusion". LOL
I usually don't jump on the bad play calling bandwagon but tonight was frustrating. A&M was stacking the box and they still couldn't stop Eddie or TJ. I know we can't run every play and need to be balanced but tonight was ridiculous. Looks like I wasn't the only one yelling RUN THE BALL tonight. Rant over. RTR guys.
Good Post. I'll start by saying Saban and staff are the best in the business and I wouldn't trade this group of players for any group. That said...
I'm all for balance, and I think our offensive philosophy is great. But I thought we were a little too focused on staying balanced. Lacy averaged 5 yards per rush, I would have liked us to work him or TJ for most of a drive, especially the first few drives of the second half.
I agree with the point about pass rush. The last two weeks we've been atrocious on third and long. We are still missing that dominant defensive end/Jack that can get to the qb and make an individual play. I also agree with airharper, their O-Line tonight was really, really good, just like LSU's was last week. I bet Manziel takes a step back next year. He's really good by any measure, but I think this O-Line makes him special this year.
The first quarter our defensive gameplan was terrible...not sure why we did what we did if we reviewed the UF and LSU games against TAMU. We played much better the second half but our offense couldn't get it done. It wasnt all playcalling, we fumbled one time too. The 1st and goal playcalling was definitely suspect, i agree with that. We should have pounded them and smashed it in the endzone. Not to mention the 4th down play, that was horrible. All around horrible
I was quick to jump on McCarron and posted those feelings. Let emotion cloud my judgement.

I disagree with most of what you said. AJ was accurate enough to hit some hard to throw deep balls but threw that INT from the 2 yard line right in the guys hands. The coaches didn't have us ready but did a helluva job getting us back in it. We shut down little Johnny after the first quarter (for the most part). They only scored 9pts after Q1. If we play them again its not even close. Maybe we should have run it a little more but they shut us down when we ran it 2-3 times in a row on a couple of occasions. Go back and check. If we don't fumble or we don't throw 2 Int's and we win that game. Since when do we have 4 TO's and beat a team of that caliber? We might even win it if we don't get that penalty at the end of the game.
But stop all your BS whining. Its extremely difficult to win every game. We have a great chance to win the SECC and beat the crap out of ND in the Sugar Bowl. That would be a great year. We can win the NC next year. I don't give a crap if all you wussies down vote me but that's how I feel.
Good post DM. I think we need to look at running the ball more. What is our identity right now ? On defense we have faced two on target qbs and they have revealed that we have issues in the secondary. With that said....if we don't fumble the ball there is a chance for at least 3 points. Hats off to a&m. They are a very good team.
It's not whining and I'm not a wussie. I'm just not a sunshine pumper. And Cooper and Bell had to wait on the ball. He's very hurt. We didn't shut anyone down. It's really ok to criticize the coach sometimes. He's not God. You may be ok with playing Notre Dame and having a great season, but watching your championship hopes potentially go out the window isn't ok with most people.
I said I thought the game plan was fine except for the offensive play calling, implying I didn't like the offensive play calling. I agree we should have run the ball more, especially on first down. Our advantage in size and depth was largely negated due to our apparent belief that we must pass a majority of the time.
I'm just saying that A&M played very close to a perfect game, something you didn't even mention in your OP. Yeah, the play calling could have been better. But we have to realize that we faced two tough teams on back to weeks whose QBs played extremely well -- I mean damn near perfect. That's very tough to overcome.

Don't really have a problem with most of your post, but I already went back to checked...
Drives that we ran more than once (since you said 2-3 times in a row)
2nd Drive - Ran twice...18 yards and 5 yards, then inc pass, then interception
4th Drive - Ran 2 in row (4 yds, 4yds), Passed for 7, Ran for 9 yds, ran for 11 yds, ran for 4 yds, sack! Two screens for 7 yds, pass for 20 yds, run 2 times for TD.
7th Drive - Ran for 8 yds and 3 yds. At end of drive ran for 3 yds, 5yds, no gain. FG
No more consecutive runs.
Ten Possesions - 3 Drives with consecutive runs. Those runs netted 78 yards on 14 carries. 5.57 yds per carry. They struggled with our running game, whether you want to admit it or not.
I understand we can't run every down but they only stopped us ONE time running consecutive runs. Yeldon got stuffed on 3rd and 2 and we kick a very important FG to close the gap to three.
We'll get him twice in College Station.
He is good, but people forget he has, arguably, the #1 & #2 Tackles blocking for him.
Both tackles will be top 10 picks.
The 4 losses of Saban's career that stand out to me are La Monroe, Utah, USCe and today. The reason I'm as critical of the coaching as I am, is because the other 3 were so different. La Monroe......we didn't have much talent. Utah.....a Sugar Bowl no one cared about with Andre Smith fiasco taking place. USCe.....road game, they had very good players, we were very banged up. Today was a home game, all we've heard about is Johnny Football, A&M is very good--not sneaking up on anybody.....and we don't show up ready to play. I just don't get it.
