Does anyone know what brand of bats the team will swing this season?
I think I remember reading they were going to use Easton.
I think it's a mix of everything but Nike bats. I know they have been trying out all brands during fall practice and preseason practice. They got out of their contract with Nike after last year's results were so dissapointing. So for this year, I think they didn't want to lock themselves into one brand.
This is how it's been for all of the scrimmages I've been able to get to. I'd assume they will do that during the season as well.
They have no contract, the team is using several bats. Not one person is using Nike. Most people on the team swing the Easton bat
I talked with the staff during fall ball and they have the option to try out multiple bats to see what they like. KInda nice as when I played we were locked into Easton, even though I like Easton bats the best. But yes the Nike is out
What years did you play?
I think Easton made the best bats before the recent limitations started coming in. The Connexions and Stealths were awesomely hot bats. I think they had a little catching up to do when the NCAA banned those type bats, so I don't know where they stand now. I swung a DeMarini Voodoo a couple weeks ago and it was pretty sweet, but I think my favorite BBCOR so far is the TPX Omaha. Haven't swung an Easton since the BBCOR switch, so maybe next time I hit the cages they'll have a demo there.
That '99 team was pretty stout. Just ran up against a pretty good Miami team is my memory is correct.
Team was solid, we should have beat Miami in the first game as there pitcher was average at best and we didnt get it done. Sure suprised that is the last time Bama has been to Omaha. Did you used to go to games then or still do?
I've loved baseball all my life, but I was going into the 5th grade at that time, so I'm just going off what I remember of listening to my friend's parents who went nearly every weekend.
Living two hours away, I only got to come to a couple weekend series, but I went down to Hoover with my dad every year from 2000-2009.
Since I got to school down here in 2005, I'm at every home series though.

good deal, well you might have seen me in 2000 at the SEC Tournament
You ever swing the TPX Gen 1X?
That old green bat? Heck yeah. I loved it. I loved the 2nd gen of it, the Response (I think). We had a Gen 1X and a Response but the G1X cracked down the middle and the Response broke off right above the handle.
If you're who I think you are, then I remember you opened the floodgates in that 7th inning in the opener against Miss St that year.
Played 2nd base was #4 1998-2000
Yeah I think all of them cracked ha but they had some great pop. I had the response as well but it got stolen at a tryout.
Does your first name rhyme with "ham"?
If so, one of my all-time favorites at Bama. Huge baseball fan here. From 1996-2002 or so, we were bad-a** on the diamond.
Ha, yea Sam.
Thank you, appreciate. I really enjoyed time at Bama. Hope to see baseball back to those years
Yep - I was in Omaha in 1997 (as a fan - not any official capacity with the team.)
Those were fun times. I was active in the student section - or whatever student section we had - from 01-04 or so. Hope we can get it packed again soon.
I've got your autograph haha. I used to have my birthday parties there as a kid.
That's funny, sorry its not worth anything. I remember the plate mates taking players down to B-Day parties if they were picked
Back then then the weekend series were packed and alot of fun to play in
Sentimental value man haha.
Yeah I got to choose one each year to meet. Met Caruso, Mohler, and Gulledge. I remember one year Bama hosted MSU on my birthday weekend and the MSU diamond girls asked me about Andy Phillips and how they could meet him.
I've got a ton of Bama baseball memorabilia from the 90's. The cards, baseballs, programs, hats, etc.
We were in school at the same time; I graduated in 2000. The Right Field Lounge was something to see back when they let you park on the grass. The super regionals back then are still the most fun I've had at The Joe.
