Big hire for them.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
WOW!!! The west is crowded enough as is. Peterson will bring a strong Ark team every year.
Damn good hire.
No sh*t... this is a huge hire for them and one i didn't see coming. I thought to myself today that if I were Ark I'd have to contact Art Briles. I think his style of offense could work well with what Ark is used to running and will fit the recruits they have gotten the last few years under BP. He'd need a good DC, though. I think Peterson is a homerun hire for them if this is true.
Maybe that site's more credible than, say, hogville.
Wow. Hire of the year I think.
I think the SEC West is soon going to reach parity, where the West winner is going to be 10-2 or 9-3 annually. Could end up getting left out of the playoffs if that happens.
This smells like a homerun, but in reality will taste like rotten potatos. Peterson is a great mind, no doubt. Hiring Peterson would be a boost of sorts. HOWEVER. Peterson will not be able to outcoach Miles, Saban, Sumlin, and honestly Freeze. Peterson will not be able to recruit to an area he has no ties or connections in. He's in the ultra-competitive, dog-eat-dog, SEC West. He will face more pressure every week than he's EVER faced at Boise State where the Broncos have never had any real pressure on them, save the one game where all they needed was a FG to go undefeated and have a chance at the BCS and they missed the FG and lost the game.
I love what Peterson has done at Boise, but this could be Dan Hawkins-esque (Colorodo).
Significant upgrade from Petrino if you ask me. Congrats Hogs.
Just a question. What ties did Saban have to the South when he took over at LSU? Or Meyer at UF? How about Les Miles?
Scientologist in Fayettevile. Should be interesting.
Wrong Chris Peterson. Google a bit deeper. The Scientology practicing CP is an actor

Have actually been reading about this possibility for a few days and am not surprised. Petersen has an 11 year old boy with cancer (in remission), and the UArky hospital has one of the best cancer centers around. That has been a factor in the discussions. Plus, I think the whole Boise thing has run its course.
Go check Boise State's roster. They have a significant number of kids from Texas. He has great connections to the area. Additionally, that's why you hire assistants. They will create, maintain, and establish the relationships that he doesn't have in his primary recruiting areas. So recruiting in a "new" area is not a big deal these days.
If in fact this is true, it will be interesting to see how he does in the SEC. This ain't the WAC. He will have to prepare for games every weekend.
The best part of this story is that while Arkansas hits a home run, Tennessee and the boogs are still looking.
