"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
Some of our fans kill me. You want a young and energetic guy? I've seen 70 year old men outwork 20 year old men. This isn't an NFL GM position. This is basically a glorified pep rally organizer position. Who better to do that than a man that's spent his entire life loving and donating to the UofA? Some act as if Mal Moore was gods gift to AD's. He was a good AD who hired a great football coach because said coach had left a good college town (LSU) to try the NFL and didnt like it. Mal benefited from timing as much as anything in the Saban hire. Sure out woman's softball team and gymnastics are outstanding but our men's Baseball and basketball team continue to wallow in mediocrity. So give Coach Battle a chance before you knock him. Georgia pushed out a 70 year old Vince Dooley who did an admiral job as AD for a young, energetic AD who coincidently liked getting slob jobs from hookers in parked cars.

Good post. There's no substitute for experience.
Judging by your screen name, Battle is probably too young for the job.
Wasn't a hooker, and the car wasn't parked. But point taken.
Probably one of the most moronic things I've read today.
The steward and leader of our entire athletic department isn't a "glorified pep rally organizer" unless we make that the job description. Regardless of what direction the position heads or who takes it over down the road, some of us are ready to expect more and are tired of doing things the way we did them in the 1980s.
I think Mal has done a nice job, but I want to be the best at everything. I don't want us to just keep cycling through dudes who can't drive after 6pm. That doesn't mean we have to hire a 20 year old, either. "Young" here is a relative term.
BTW - those "70 year olds who outwork everyone" are the reason we still play basketball in an airplane hangar and have basically been passed by everyone in the league in baseball facilities. But hey...football is great so we're cool.
Oh please. Get real.
did an admiral job? take that with a grade of saw? haha, just joking, i agree with your post
Great commentary here. Insightful. Thought provoking.
Well, I would not try to use unlicensed gear now. Someone must think we are losing some revenue out there.
