If we win the reg season title (still not probable, but possible) are we still out of the NCAAT(assuming we don't win the SECT) ?
If we wind up beating UF twice I'd say no we'd make the tourny
Regular season Conf champ in and of itself is not a guarantee of an NCAA bid. But I'd say it'd look good on our resume and would likely mean we beat both old miss and UF. If so, I'd say we get in
can't UF lose twice more and us lose to them but beat everyone else and still be reg season SECC?
I don't see that happening but yeah...it could
I tried to leave probable out on the OP.
I'm with you, would be shocked.
We have to win out to win the regular season title unless Florida gets upset again (they do still have games at Tennesee and Kentucky). Even if they do, we still have to beat them, it just means we can lose to Ole Miss and still come out on top. Ultimately, wins at Florida and/or at Ole Miss would be much more significant than our SEC tournament seed in terms of an at-large bid.
If we can at least grab the 2 seed, which will probably require splitting Ole Miss and Florida (I suspect Ole Miss will drop another game), we can avoid playing Florida in the tournament until the final round and possibly at all if someone else knocks them out. Getting to the conference title game will look good and hopefully give us a couple quality wins. Obviously winning that game would be ideal.
EDIT: I should probably note that we're not going to win in Gatorville. It's not going to happen. I wouldn't hold my breath about Oxford, either. We couldn't do it last year, or the year before, when they were worse and we were better. But I suppose nothing is impossible.
