Great post and good point about teams being able to run and pass. Like you said Okl and USC are really the only two teams that fall into that category but neither is as physical as Bama. Two teams that lined up and ran straight at ND was Stanford and Pitt and both had success rushing for over 150 yards. Neither team had any sort of passing threat. In fact, against Stanford there were times ND had 9 in the box to stop the run. They didn't do this until Stanford proved they couldn't throw the ball. Stanford moved the ball very well and dropped 2 first down passes in the first passes in the 1st half and threw 2 ints (one of which would of been a td). After that, ND didnt fear their pass at all. Before that they were avging over 5 ypc against NDs 7 man front. After watching Stanford 4 times this year they are not in the same league talent wise as Bama on either side of the ball. If Bama doesn't avg 5 yards a carry I will be shocked.
While Tuitt, NIx and Teo are good players they have 2 guys that will never play another down of football after this year and 2 guys that will be lucky to get drafted. I like our 5 NFL OL, 2 NFL running backs, NFL blcoking TE and NFL qb over 3 guys that will play in the NFL on their side.
I think this ND D is the 3rd best we will have seen this year. LSU and UGA are much more talented IMO.
Awesome thread! Great job of breaking it down by all!
