Back on the original topic... anyone got anymore info on Alec Morris?
I know, I know, redshirting... but if you recall Saban said that AJ was the "backup" in 2009 who would've played in the BCSNCG against Texas had McElroy gone down (and if the game were still in question). So it isn't like he couldn't have earned a very important job already.
I have heard he is progressing well, but nothing very specific.
There was also the question of Gmac's health and if he could hold up. Texas was a possible game, staff was not worried about Notre Dame. We didn't need to blow Morris redshirt to beat them.
Let me preface by saying, I have no knowledge of how Morris is doing. However, the OP's original question shouldn't be treated like a "How's the grassin BDS?" thread. Alec could've put on 20lbs in our strength and conditioning program. He could've been lighting it up on our scout team. Who knows. However, there are some members that might have some access to this type of info.
Perhaps my point wasn't clear... I wasn't implying that Morris might be needed to beat Notre Dame. I was pointing out that sometimes freshmen who are redshirting have very important roles. What would've happened if AJ had gone down in the first quarter against UGA?
Not that it matters- like the OP I'm just curious on how the kid's progressing and if anyone has some good tidbits on how the staff feels about him at this point in his career.
Everyone knows that Thomas Darrah is the heir apparent...
Not sure why I get down voted, some are so sensitive on here. Sorry for giving a smart ass response. Act like I gave negative info on a recruit Bama is after. I've posted in the past what I had heard about Morris and how he is doing. I'm sure it was a few months back.
There are no "heir apparents" at Bama now. You have to prove yourself on the field and there will be competition.
I understood what you were saying. I was speaking in regards to Coach coming out and saying what he did at the time. I don't know if Morris is ready or ever will be for that matter.
I think that many are inferring (and that is what your question sounded like to me) that no information on Morris is the same as bad info. I just think they are keeping things close to the vest.
Apologies if I offended or misunderstood.
My money is still on Bateman, but I have a feeling that Del Rio could be the starter. Kid has a fire for competition, something that usually translates well for us
Heard Alec got that spiral thing down now FWIW!
