To recruit players away from their home state of Alabama as it is to get Texas and LA kids. Is it just me or have we had a ton of talent leave this state that should have never left?
The list goes on and on. We need to keep our talent here. Why does it seem it's easier to cherry pick our state and there are complete uproars if a player like LC leaves LA?

Who has left the state since Saban has been the coach that he has offered? Obviously Winston and Casher, but outside of those the fence around the state has been pretty strong since 2007
Rivers was recruited to play Safety at Bama...tifwiw
and if a major talent left the state there will be an uproar..JW has baseball or he would be in crimson
I hate to see our talent playing elsewhere, simple as that. No reason we should let a 5 star at any position get away from this state. With the two programs this state has to offer it should be an automatic lock that he will stay here.
It is extremely hard to lure kids away from the Alabama state schools. Everything a top prospect would need to be successful is in his own back yard.
Under rated thread title IMO.

Which Owens are you referring to?
Anther really solid post TNF
Well, since Lance Thompson is back, maybe we can "build a fence" around the state.

I would much rather keep our focus on expanding our national recruiting presence. Take the kids we want from home to the extent possible, but focus more on increasing the player pool from which we can draw through expanding our boundaries nationally, thus increasing our options and making the "misses" hurt less
I believe that some players don't want to compete like they will have to at Bama. Saban establishes I believe a sense in recruiting that NOTHING will handed out, all things will have to be earned. I as think most of our players have mental toughness that a lot of players on other teams don't.
Fact is that we can only take 25 guys, and we also have an in-state rival who just won a national championship two seasons ago. And a recruiter who played for said in-state rival that recruits for FSU.
I think if we never flirted with Gunner Kiel, then we would've probably landed Winston. As for Casher, oh well. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.
T.O. Im assuming. Personally Im glad he didnt attend Alabama.
I think TO and i think he went to UT Chattanooga to play LB and basketball 15 years ago or whatever. Certainly a completely irrelevant example.
