A loss on the road to UVA 58-55. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy...

Go hoos! Doubly excited with this W
Code word for NCSU up here is they are just like microwave popcorn...hot out of the unit, but they go cold almost immediately...did same thing in game with Maryland after they beat Duke.

Beat Duke and Carolina at home but lose to Maryland, Wake, and UVA on the road. Classic Gottfried.
You do realize that we haven't beaten one top 50 team all year right?
good grief, some of you have way to much anger built up to Gotfried. Yes he failed her at the end for doing things off the court he never should have done. He got fired by his alma mater over it and left the Capstone in shame. I think that is punishment enough for him.
Has he learned from his Tuscaloosa experience?
Not blaming you at all, but I think the biggest thing keeping the Gottfried hate flowing is all the people saying "look at NC State, look how good Gottfried has made them. Coach Grant sucks we should have kept Gottfried."
That was one thing I could never get past was his mantra of "try to steal a few on the road". That may be the reality but you should display the attitude of "we play to win every game". In basketball there will be an occasional 20 pt. loss but CAG's teams have played hard at home and on the road and have been in most every game they have played. CMG teams would go on the road and showed no mental toughness. They regularly went on the road and got blown out of the gym despite having some pretty talented teams. If you think he was only fired due to off court issues you are sorely mistaken. CAG may not ultimately be "THE GUY", but at least his teams play with pride and toughness and represent UA well. CMG's last couple of teams were an embarasment. As a former Bama guy I hope CMG has grown and been humbled by his experiences and goes on to have success, but I assure you I would not trade CAG for the CMG I know. This season is not over yet and we seem to be getting better, but I do agree that next year he will have to make some hay or his seat should begin to heat up.
Will somebody refresh me as to what CMG's off the court issues were? I know his teams didn't do too well in his last few years but why does everyboyy seem to hate him so much?
I think the real lesson here is look what a team that plays true defense can accomplish when they consistently execute a game plan.
UVA has MAYBE 4 players who would see the floor on Bama's team (Harris, Evans, Mitchell, Tobey, only b/c of his size).
UVA has won 5 straight ACC games. Just thought I would point that out. Excuse me 4 straight games.

Your point Mark?
This is pretty sad IMO. Bama sucks. State does not. Sour, sour grapes.
Theta my point is let it go with Gottfried. He has accomplished more in one year at NC State than Grant has in 4 here, but people only want to bash him. We haven't beaten one top 50 team all year and haven't beaten any top 50 teams on the road in 4 years with Grant. Yet we focus on this stuff. Get over it and move on. The SEC is absolutely abysmal this year and yet we aren't even near the top of the conference. Can we quit bringing up an old coach from 4 years ago and instead focus on our 2 million dollar man who had yet to produce one NCAA victory. Last time I checked grant is our coach and maybe we should care more about his accomplishments than another coaches losses in another conference.
he learned that there a lot of supporters who are determined to compete with duke and nc. can u say ca$h
CMG could turn a Freshman All American into a Jr. 3 team SEC player better than any coach alive.
Accomplished more? How so? By making the Sweet Sixteen? That NCSU team was mediocre. They were 0-7 against ranked teams heading into the NCAA tournament. They got an overrated San Diego State team in round 1 then got a Georgetown team that was 10-7 in their final 17 games of the regular season. Hoyas peaked in their win at Louisville. It wasn't a very impressive run to the Sweet Sixteen. It was unexpected, but not really impressive.
This season, NC State has performed like usual away from home. In true road games, they're 1-3. Lone win was Boston College and they damn near lost that game.
He'll lose his 2 best players at NCSU plus his best perimeter threat after this season which should make next season interesting.
