I was doing some thinking. If Alabama executes the gameplan and plays with the emotion they did against LSU last year what do you all expect the score to be?
Like most on this board. I'm confident but still a bit nervous. I know last year's D was better than this years D but was thinking about the above scenario in my head. The last 3 big games we have played with time to prepare (2010 MSU, 2011 LSU, and 2012 UM) we have looked fantastic. I've thought about that and I just don't see the game being close if we play well and don't make the mistakes we did against A&M and UGA (uncharestic of our teams). I do not think that ND's D is on the same level as LSU's last year and I do not think their O is any better either. Add in the fact they haven't played nearly as tough a schedule and I'm not sure they'll be prepared to face a team like ours.
Insight is welcome.
Logic says that we should be able to beat them by 7-14 points. But they're the underdog, have a very strong D which is the great equalizer in college football, and they've somehow pulled out games they had no business winning. So ya, we should win convincingly, but I'm done making those types of predictions after the 3 heart attacks I've had during this season.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the Irish O is much better than LSU 2011. I think the O we saw from LSU this year is what we see from ND. Golson has a very good arm and is much better that D. Robinson and their two backs are pretty good as well.
Agreed that ND's O is much better than LSU's last year, but I don't think you can compare their O to LSU's O this year at all.

If you dreamed you were a sleep and you woke up, would you be awake?
Your probably right Vegas. I tend to built up the opponent sometimes. I was trained by a fellow they called Bear.
You may be right. I have just watched them a bunch and think they are very avg. I think they only avged like 27 points a game against those crappy defenses they played. LSU avged 36 last year and played Bama twice.
ND only scored over 30 3 times. Against Navy, Wake, and Miami. Wake and Miami have defenses ranked less than 80th in the nation. And Navy is...Navy. To be fair they did score 30 against OKL. Even though that's not real impressive considering OKL gives up 25 a game and gave up almost 50 twice.
I guess I'm not seeing it. ND played 4 D's this year in the top 20 and scored 20 (MSU who finished 6-6), 13 (against that same crappy Mich D we played), 17 (BYU who finished 7-5) and 13 (Stanford). I've watched them a bunch and am not very impressed with their O at all.
Yes LSU had some help with D and special teams but most of their games were over at halftime so why would you take chances?
Is this what you think the game will be or what you think the score will be if Bama plays like they did against MSU, UM, and LSU in the games I mentioned?
If it's what you think it will be if we play like we did against the teams I mentioned I'd like to hear why. B/c I just don't see it at all.
34-10............Recent History dictates....if Nuss calls right plays and RUNS on first down........

The Dynasty is Here!
I don't know if they can get the QB play necessary to keep it close.
Because we've had our problems with the more talented teams we've played this year. I just got a feeling. This game will be the same. It doesn't take a great offense to move the ball on us. LSU put up over 400yds. & 17pts. on us. I'm saying ND is ready to play. Just like I felt LSU, A&M, & UGA was as well. When teams have showed up ready. We haven't had our best days.
It takes great QB play. You still can't really run the ball on us (we are easily the number one rushing defense in the country by a huge margin) unless you can find success in the passing game. Can Golson deliver a performance like Manziel, Murray, and Mett? I don't know but they will need it to keep it close.
Notre Dame scoring 20 points??? That's a good one!!!

I'm not gonna doubt that he can have some success. I'm gonna assume he can do enough to win. & LSU, A&M, & UGA all ran for over 100yds. on us. Now, if they don't have that balance on offesne? Do any of them just beat us? Or keep it close? Just by throwing the ball? I don't think they do. But that is just the way I see it. RTR
A lot of ways to hit 20pts. in a game my friend. Offense doesn't have to score them all.
Gonna be a war because they are legit at the LOS. Very rare that you see a team with a stout OLine and DLine get dominated.
They have some big boys in the front 7, including 3 that will be top 10 overall picks (#5 Te'o in 2011 6'2", 255 in 2013, #7 Stephen Tuitt, 6'6", 303 in 2014 , #9 Louis Nix, 6'3", 326 in 2014)
I normally favor top tier SEC teams BIG when playing big time bowl games against out of conference opponents due to the difference in the quality of the DLine of top tier SEC Teams. Notre Dame has an SEC-type DLine and Tuitt is from Georgia and Nix is from Florida.
LSU's defense played pretty well last year in the BCS Title Game. Their offense did nothing to help them as they couldn't maintain possession to give their defense any rest. If Notre Dame's offense can maintain decent time of possession, I think the game is close.
Notre Dame 21
***Attached is a good article that delves into why SEC Teams have elite DLinemen...It also touches upon why I think Bama could focus on the SE portion of the US and do fine in recruiting. Not saying other parts of the country don't have great players....that's NOT what I'm saying. But in recruiting, you want to be as efficient as possible and there are simply more elite players in close proximity to each other in the SE United States.
Offense Players [related to attached article about defensive players]
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel posed a fascinating question during a conversation last summer. Where, Neuheisel asked, can a coach go to find the best defensive linemen?

You get out of it what you put into it!
They are very balanced offensively. They can't run or throw.
That's sort of my point in that LSU, A&M, and UGA had great QB play which allowed them to open up the offense. Manziel won the heisman trophy, Murray is the number two rated QB in CFB (behind AJ), and Mett (who is the outlier here) has been a totally different player since the bye week for LSU averaging a solid QB rating of 130 or so.
Both teams have a good rushing offense (ours is obviously a little bit better but they are both good). The difference is that AJ is tops in the league in passing efficiency and Notre dame is 75th out of 120 teams in passing efficiency. That's the problem they have to have an answer because if your QB cannot move the change against Alabama with his arm on third down, the game will not be close.
georgia earned 21 points and we left 17 on the field. We should have beaten geogia by 21 points 42 - 21 So the outcome of the game has nothing to do with ND but depends on whether Bama beats itself or not. I do not believe ND is as good as georgia or LSU.(or UF for that matter. Belue needs to step up or get ready to ride the pine next year
But they have as many days as us to work on things. They have the staff to get this team ready. & they still have a defense built to slow our offense down. I don't know what happened. But outside of a few big plays. Our passing game was absent against UGA. We might have to throw a little more in this one. I just hope the results are better. & our defense is still on of the worst on giving up 3rd downs. & that is regardless of the opponent. Hell Wallace even hit 2 3rd & longs against us. If Golson does that with the game close. That likely makes a difference.
Yall can blast & disagree with me. & that is fine. But I predicted us to struggle with LSU, A&M, & UGA. & I've been 3-0 on those predictions. I just think this team has a few more issues than past teams. Now can they not put it together & blister ND's ass? Absolutely they can.! & I wish they will. But nothing I've seen. In how they have played in the bigger games. Makes me think this one won't be close some how. But hey I'm still calling us winning by 6pts. Which isn't far off from the current line. I just don't see us winning by at least 2tds.
