Pray for Tuscaloosa and Roll Tide!
U guys can down vote me, I'm not ready to call for his head. I expected better this year. Not ready to scrap him.
It's not just the losses.. it's the WAY we lose.. with 0 intensity, 0 offensive identity, and scoring 37 points.. there's no hope for CAG
I have probably been the loudest, proudest supporter. This is now the third thread I have posted in re: CAG. I will not make any more excuses for the lack of offensive production. There are obstacles to overcome and I will acknowledge that CAG did create many of them. But, any coach worth a shit could figure out how to out score that atrocious outfit that the cow humpers call a basketball team.
Firing him now would probably create an even worse dumpster fire. We would end up having to hire an someone lesser than the bball equivalent of Malzhan, most likely. Let him coach the season. Fans support the players. And, if he does not have a PROFOUND epiphany that leads to an extreme change in offensive production...let him go after the season.
Right Here... Roll Tide Coach Grant....
Unlike you bandwagon fans, I am at least waiting to see how the season unfolds, he could still have a good season.
In I like him. Offense is bad but he can coach defense. Also he's improved every year except this year and it's not over yet.
probably asleep. It's been a Long and Productive Nick Saban Day. RTR! :)
I'm in. I don't jump off the wagon mid-season.
Talk to the hand!
Well I will support him as long as he is our coach. Do I think he's the man for the job? I posted earlier I think it's time for him to go but I'm still holding out hope that he can turn
Fire his ass right now. No excuse for this.
Here. Its a down year. We get that.
He actually isn't that great of a d coach. He might coach hustle on d well but teams break our press a lot and leads to open shots or layups. Even the barn did it yesterday. Our post players do no protect the basket well when we press and we are caught a lot out of position when we switch to zone.
I've been in his corner up until last night. It isn't a one game thing, but a season worth. Even in our wins we suck. Its not about being a bandwagon fan, it's about me finally letting my pride get out of the way and admitting we aren't as good as we should be. Even counting injuries, we can't do the simple things that good coaching can impact.
Anyone who can honestly sit back and say they still support this embarrassment of a program, can't be taken seriously and has a lack of basketball IQ. I get it, Coach Grant may be a likable guy and the defense and effort at times can be an absolute thing of beauty, but our offense has been the same stagnant piece of garbage for 4 years. We bring guys in who are shooters in High School and he puts so much emphasis on defense that they completely lose their offensive ability. When we signed Trevor he was "the" guy that was going to carry the program offensively. Has he made big shots? Of course, and he is probably responsible for about 5 or 6 of our victories but he is not performing anywhere near his potential.Cooper has the ability to be a deadly 3 pt shooter but the emphasis is not there from the coaching staff. The lack of an inside game is obvious, but my gosh...Grant recruited these guys. Jacobs was not the scrub he is today when he was in high school. That kid needs someone to work with him and it's obvious that no one is taking the time to help him get to a new level of play. Pollard???? Who is this guy on the court wearing that last name? That is not the same 5* kid that we saw coming out of high school...no where close. These players deserve better, and this program deserves better. Using the football program as an excuse to allow this disaster to continue is weak and gutless. We pride ourselves on being the best as Bama fans, and Basketball shouldn't be any different. You don't have one of the top 20 paid coaches in America to get in return one of the worst offensive teams to ever take the court.

Agree. The reason our defensive numbers look so good is because we hold the ball so long on offense. There is not a doubt in my mind that we lead the SEC in time of possession. This is not a good team. We can continue to make excuses and say we "think" he is good or great coach but he has done nothing to prove that. We will not be elite with Grant. Keep him if we want to be on the bubble every year or get rid of him if Alabama basketball should expect more. It is really that simple.
All you Grant lovers are the same Mark Gotfired lovers..you keep holding on to hope. We are 4 years into to the AG era and we get this crap ... 37 points ... Last night .. And we pay 2 mill for this? Wake up people..our Offense ... If you want to call it that.. SUXS..
Fire his ass now! 4 years is enough..
Seriously are we going to play this all year? You will throw this up now.
Then when we come back or have some big win then a Grant supporter will do the same.
I think we all should agree that program right now is not where it needs to be. Beyond that we can discuss the merits of Grant or not intelligently (which I don't consider when we do the constant "where you at" threads).
I don't know if he should go. But I will make that call at the end of the year. I know after last night I am not happy. I am pissed about our offense and have been.
I am not a "Grant Supporter." I haven't been since last year but I wanted him to succeed because I wanted UA to succeed, but it isn't going to happen. I have no problem with teams occasionally getting lay-ups when they break the press. Lay-ups against a press happens everywhere to everyone. Aside from that, our defense is not very good. Now before you all go quoting stats, he is why I say that, our stats are good because we hold the ball so much on O, it shortens the game and gives us falsely inflated (or deflated depending in how you want to look at it) defensive numbers. Instead of playing a 40 min game we are shortening the game to 25-28 min by holding it. My biggest issue is he has made NO ATTEMPT TO CHANGE OR FIX this horrid offense. Every announcer we have talks about how bad our offense is. We may not can do what he wants but to keep doing the same thing is insanity. It's time for a change.

I love Alabama anything, but right now this team is not worth an emotional attachment
If you dreamed you were a sleep and you woke up, would you be awake?
if this was reverse and those results were translated into football we would want him gone asap.
I want him gone.
I am not getting in the whole CAG should fired or kept saga. All i know is that when i sit and watch a game and when a team is down 9 points with 5 minutes to go and they are handing the ball off at center court 5 feet behind the 3 point line and not moving towards the basket at all til 8 seconds in the play clock, something is wrong.
Common sense and even junior high coaches teach us that if we cant make jump shots lets get to the rim and get fouled! I never seen anyone attempting to do this with consistency. This said i think the lack of an inside scorer is killing us. Teams are playing our shooters(or so called shooters) with tight defense outside the 3 point line knowing that if we drive their big men will cut us off cause we cant dump it to a big man to score. This team has enough athletes that if we had someone down low who could just put up 10 points a game we would be tough to stop.
I like Grant..... But this 'trend' of hard nosed trapping Defense takes a toll on our players no doubt. Maybe we do need some depth yes but we need to be thinking fast paced up tempo style basketball with the talent we have. I guarantee you Calipari or Coach K would have our team right now at a 19-3 type record. With Releford, Lacey, Randolph, Cooper, and Jacobs starting....... Big G, Steele, and a 5 Star coming off the bench. Way too athletic to be playing this G'town/ VCU/Louisville type game. We not big enough to begin with. With that being said He deserves at least one more year.the whole team will be back next year.
