I thought ticket allotments for all neutral site and bowl games were 50/50 and I am pretty sure we would have filled the stadium up by ourselfs if we could have? Am I missing something because I am just surprised we were outnumbered about 2-1.
I knew when I heard louder boos than cheers when we took the field we were outnumbered but I dont see how Notre Shame got that many more tickets than we did.
Maybe this has already been discussed and I missed it but it is just very confusing to me.
this was their 1st title game in over 20 years, right?
our 3rd in 4 years
self explanatory iyam
Yes very simple. This is the first time they have been to this game in over 20 years. We, have been to one 3 out of 4 years. Still, nice turnout by both schools. Very well supported in and really supported outside the stadium.
Also, the schools get the same amount of tickets, but they don't get all the tickets. Each only got 17,000. Corporate sponsors, Agents, BCS futures and other alliances make up a big chunk of dispersed tickets. ND had over 100,000 requests by Alumni for tickets. We had 42,000. Take into account the difference in demand and apply it to the secondary market.
ND knew they were in the game earlier and started buying up the available tickets before the SEC game.
One thing, to buy tickets and travel to Miami was very expensive.
They bought more tickets.
What are you talking about? When I took count late in the 4th it was about 95% Bama fans.
I heard you could get in free at half time ;)
ND is the team of many catholics....which makes them a very popular team including in south florida...along with they haven't been this relevant in 20 years.
I bet it was 55 45-- not a huge difference. Bama's half was 90% Bama and ND's had pretty much no Tiders. For all of the above reasons, they had a few more but it wasn't significant.
In a nutshell, money talks and BS walks. There's a proliferation of ND fans who are well-heeled, yet frustrated from decades worth of pent-up desire for the big dance. As I posted last week, a ND friend of a friend stroked a $140K check for a 24-seat box for the BCSNCG. After the world-class arse-whipping they received, is it possible he had a case of buyers remorse? If he didn't, he's got more money than sense.
I was in upper deck. Had great view. It wasn't by much. I saw some people saying 70/30 etc. No freaking way. Absolutely no more than 10 percent and I think that might be a reach. Outside the stadium they manhandled us the way our team did them.

I think so.
Yea I was also there, thought 60/40 maybe. Maybe 55/45.
I'm an alumni of UA, but I'd be the first to admit that ND grads make more money than UA grads. Plus they had some donor donate quite a bit to pay for half of all student tickets.

Because all Catholics are ND fans unless they are from Alabama.
