Why do you think both Mobile and Birmingham produces more talent than that of the Montgomery Area? Mobile and Montgomery are close when it comes to their population size but Mobile year in and year out produces more D1 players as compared to Montgomery.
Is it the programs?
The quality of the HS coaches IMO
Not for sure but I think it is because Montgomery is a Barn town.
Again nothing factual but anything that has more to do with AU has to hurt talent levels. (g)

Also, i dont know how much this spills over to football, but the public school system in montgomery is sooo screwed up.
It may have something to do with youth programs available for early starts. Mobile loves it's youth football and baseball programs.
i think it is just pure randomness
Montgomery would also have to include surrounding areas Prattville, Millbrook and Wetumpka (Tri-County Area). Not saying that it's equal to Mobile in D1 talent but there are probably more D1 athletes than you think. Montgomery Schools have been getting pounded for years in football as well so the coaching may be subpar. Also, Prattville generally produces quality baseball players as well and has a good youth system in place. This may help to spread the talent over several sports. I'm sure Mobile does as well. Just throwing out possible solutions.
