If the same company owns ESPN and ABC, why not televise the game on ABC? Wouldn't they stand to earn more money if its aired on ABC?
They should air the game on network tv vs a subscription channel IMO

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure Disney/ABC/ESPN can get more money for viewers on their cable channel versus the network channel.

You're correct. ESPN is a big reason Disney is still very profitable. It is one of the top performers in the Dow this year because ESPN is bringing in nearly $9 billion in revenue.
Get used to it. I think ESPN bought the first 6 years of the playoffs.
I think if it's at the Rose Bowl, then it'll show on ABC. I believe they have an agreement with them. IIRC when we played Texas, the game was on ABC.
