He clearly doesn't like the fast paced no huddle offense. Our team clearly wasn't ready for it. I realize Manziel is a special player, but there were numerous plays where our defense wasn't prepared to deal with the fast paced nature of ATM's offense.
So far, Saban's strategy has been to criticize the no huddle offense as being not real football.
I am old enough to remember when Bear Bryant changed his entire philosophy to adapt to changes in the game.
Can Saban do it?
Do you think he can do it? I don't think he will have too. If we had our 09 and 11 defense tonight they don't score 14 IMO. I think me an a lot of other people forgot how truly special those defense were and the experience they had. Nick Saban didn't adapt after 08 when Florida beat us. The majority of the 09 defense returned and were a year older and better. It's all about keeping your core leaders together as upper classman.

Tonight he didn't have to adapt
Just hire a better OC
We would have won this game going away........
It doesn't matter who the OC is. When you give up the yards, points and turnovers we did tonight, no one wins consistently.
Wasn't the spread, no huddle offense, alive & kicking when Saban first got to Alabama?
If you think his strategy, so far, has been to criticize it as being "not real football", then you're IQ isn't high enough to carry on a coherent conversation with anyway.
If this was last year's D, rather than this year's, nobody'd be asking if he could do it or not. We held them to all of 9 points after we finally woke up, by the way, with this year's D.
We don't turn the ball over 3 times we win that game by double digits.
I think what lsu and a&m did was to take what we gave them and not force anything. When you don't creat TOs and have 3 of your own you can not expect to beat a good team.
Truth. I just don't understand with all the offensive talent that Bama has, we don't have the firepower to win 1 shootout. The defense will have a let down every now and then. The reson this defense has so many turnovers similiar to the 2010 defense is because it bends but doesn't break. The 2011 defense was a 3 and out machine and frankly didn't give itself many opportunities for turnovers.
I agree with everything y'all are saying. But we had serious issues with substitutions that cost us yardage and timeouts etc. Saban's not perfect, and it's pretty clear that the Oregon/ATM type offensive philosophy will give Saban fits.
This was a team loss, and everyone is responsible including the coaches.
One last post from me before I retire for the evening.
I'm not sure what we can do about substituting against A&M. I've never seen plays get off that fast, ever. It was amazing and sickening all at the same time. What te heck can you do about that? We caught a very hot team coming off a physical LSU game. It was crazy.
They scored 20 in first qtr and 9 the rest of the way. Adaption occurred in-game. Please invest in one of those "Keep Calm and Carry On" shirts.
I think Sumlin might be the next coach to get Processed. Saban is relentless until he gets revenge.
the football experts may disagree, but i think half of the defensive problems are related to offensive woes-- specifically an offense that struggles to find its identity.

I agree. It is tough for any D when you have an O that struggles especially against and team like the one we faced. This is an O that seems to have lost some form of identity. Maybe it is from Coach Nus being unfamiliar with the SEC
Yes.He's the best in the game!
We suck. We should hire Gene Cheezdip. He should be available soon.
-5 in turnover margin the last two games.
It really is that simple we get one or give up one fewer and those r different ball games.
Multiple 12+ play drives followed by a 3 and out rinse repeat will do its # on any defense, I mean our D didn't help themselves but our didn't help them out either, 2 games in a row we've been beaten at what is truly our style of football (time of possession)
If AJ hits Cooper & Bell in stride or Yeldon doesn't fumble we aren't having this convo. Don't know what it is but AJ has been off the past two weeks and the opponents QB's have been on right on target with there throws.
All accurate statements pretty much.....
I'll add mine:
Run the d$&? football....quit being cute.
