Who do you guys feel will be the next great MLB in foodball? Or do you feel that with the emergence of all these pass happy offenses Ray may be the last of a breed?
I will go with Patrick Willis myself, but feel he will never have the impact Ray did on the game based on all the passing. IMHO
I'm down with that but we have to wait a season.
Not that he is Ray Lewis league, but I was impressed with Brandon Spikes in that game yesterday. I know he had attitude problems at UF, but he looked the part yesterday, and he plays for a very good defense.
"Touch that thang four" - Courtney Upshaw
It would be between Jake Holland or CJ Mosely.
The Dynasty is Here!
I tend to agree that people won't have the impact Ray did. Patrick Willis is absolutely unbelievable, and I grew up with him, graduated hs with him and all that stuff. He really is a fantastic guy off the field, perfect role model for kids. He is the best MLB in the league now as well, but Ray Lewis was the greatest I've ever seen. Played 17 years, inside the box, and brought it at the highest level on every play. That's nearly unbelievable in itself. Ray Lewis was the man, and I don't know that we will ever see another one quite like him.
You didn't say which linebacker will be great next year, you just said next great linebacker. We aren't waiting, the NFL is.
No flame, but I'm sure they said the same about Nitschke, Butkus, Singletary ... they're saying it now about Ray. Another great one will along. May indeed be Patrick Willis.
I understand. I should have been more clear on how I meant it, because I do in fact think that Patrick is the next great one. Of course I've got a bit of bias in saying that, but what I meant was, I don't know if there will be another to impact the game like Ray because of the movement towards a passing league.
This is one of initial points as well, the defensive stars of the future may be more centered in the secondary and on pass rushers.
Willis and Bowman. No one else is even close.
The NFL, pass happy or not, will ever be without a need for great middle backers. Who it will be? Only time will tell.
