***Garner said Coach Pat Dye is a guy that he’s always looked to as a second father. He said Dye’s picture was next to Jesus and MLK in his grandmother’s house.
I guess we know why they hired Gus now. Just another puppet.

sounds like a true auburn man. but when vandy assistants and high school coaches are turning you down, you pretty much have to count on true auburn men, no matter how overrated they are.
Should read: Pat Dye's picture was right next to Franklin and Jackson's in his grandmother's billfold.
Dye is on the 3 dollar bill, isn't he?
"We paid then $12,000-$15,000 to sign. We sign about four every year that we pay.(Former assistant coach Rodney) Garner paid most of the players. He was paid when he was a player at Auburn." Signed, Terry Bowden
That post deserves its own thread. Maybe on the blue board, too.
"That's the way it goes. But don't forget, it goes the other way too."
I disagree. I believe Jesus and MLK's pictures were in the wall beside Dye's
Never Gets Old
Why is it shocking that he feels that way about a coach who mentored him through college? There's a lot of negative to say about Auburn and their fambly, but this actually makes sense. There are plenty of players at Alabama who feel the same about Wallace/Thomas/Bryant/Stallings/Saban. Just because they have rocks and Dye is a bare-knuckled mother f'er doesn't make Garner's remark unusual. In all likelihood Dye taught him to cheat his way through life and thus they have that in common.
I don't think anyone implied it was shocking. I thought it was funny.
So much for a fresh start at the Barn
Cheaters keep on cheating
Thank you Gus for keeping Auburn irrelevant and riddled with slime
when I heard this on F Baum today I bout' threw up
The only thing that changed with Chizzard being fired is the names on the door.
The barn wanted a new direction, not a whole new philosophy. They are fine with cheat to win. They just didn't like cheating and getting their asses whipped.
I love it!! pictures were "in" the wall...bet that's where they kept all the hush money too!!
Now, that's not so!! Gus has teeth!! That's a big change!! LOL
Nothing has changed at Auburn. They replaced one bagman (Trooper Taylor) with another (Rodnet Garner) and hired another puppet head coach. Dye and company are still pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Hahaha, somebody finish this joke for me:
"So Jesus, MLK, and Pat Dye walk into a bar..."
That may have been the best use of a gif that I have ever seen. I laffed for a solid 5 minutes.
From this point on he shall be known as Rodney Barner.
Mentored and payed him through college should be a great fit.
