A thread some guy started about wanting BP as the next coach.... someone calls BP a slime ball, then you had this reply... and reply to said reply...
So is Saban. And, don't give me the sanctimonious BS that that is what uat does. We would give anything to have their winning program right now. You think BP will be the "face" of Auburn as a great University? No. He's a football coach and will give us the best chance to have a winning program. Just a fact.
You are wrong. I wouldn't do "anything" to have their program. I want Auburn to have a consistently winning program without having to stoop to the lows that Saban does. That said, Petrino is still a liar and a slim ball. Why would you believe a word the man says?"
I feel sorry for their delusion.... those lows he stoops to.... like, um... not hanging over 77 points on them today? They think he is Satan, when he is one of the last few classy coaches out there. Oh well....
Those people r freaking idiots and we all know it.. They got their asses handed to them today and they try to sling mud on anyone they can to make themselves feel better about it.. Coach Saban is a good man.. He's a hard ass and does things his own way, but he's still a good man.. They don't see that because they choose not to..
I've tried to explain this to some Auburn fans of mine and some of them do reluctantly acknowledge it, but most refuse to see it.
He could've put up a 100 on the barn today if he wanted to. That barn defense gave up in the 1st quarter and would've been about as effective at stopping Bama's 1st team offense in the 2nd half as the local girl scout troop would be. Just think of how many times Saban has had Bama inside the 10 with 2:00 left in a game and runs dives until time runs out and just kneels the ball on 4th down if he feels like the defense can't stop him from scoring. DID YOU GET THAT...WE KNEELED THE BALL ON 4TH DOWN IN THE IRON BOWL SO GENE CHIZIK DIDN'T HAVE TO LOSE BY THE LARGEST IRON BOWL DEFICIT IN THE HISTORY OF THE RIVALRY!
Then what does Chizik do with that courtesy...instead of kneeling and ending the game he takes one more snap so his RB can get a 1000 yards on the season.
Auburn fans don't have a single leg to stand on when comparing the classiness of the coaches of each program, aight.
I really loved the thread about about would it be bad to roll Toomer's corner when Cheesedix is fired.
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
They're trying to be all self-righteous but are under NCAA investigation. They'd be wise to take Petrino.
I fully agree that au has some of the most delusional fans in college football that stems from a very serious inferiority complex. But almost any sports fan would say that Saban is a jerk/taskmaster/ruthless dictator. We see him as classy because he's our coach and he's the best in the business, and I'm sure he does care about the kids. Moreover, he goes out of his way to credit his opponents and never really tries to show out or run up a score. But let's not act like he's a saint; the man is ruthless and is completely obsessed with one thing - dominating his competition. He's about the closest thing I've ever seen to a human laser.
Now, that's exactly what you want in your football coach. But that doesn't mean everyone should love him and think he's a great guy. The man went absolutely ballistic over eleven meaningless seconds today. We see that as an intense coach; most people see it as over the top, to put it mildly. Pat Forde just wrote an article where he said he was walking into a hotel with Saban right before an interview and Saban would not even acknowledge, much less respond to, Pat's effort to make small talk on the way. That's how focused he is, but it really shouldn't be any surprise that other people and fans see him as a jerk.
The state is the great fictitious entity by which every man believes he can live at the expense of every other. - Frédéric Bastiat
Hmm. I wish they would enlighten us on the "lows Saban stoops to."
They are so sanctimonious, even with NCAA investigations looming and the "Troopa/Lupa" circus over the last three years.
I hope their program is shut down. Heck, it may as well be already.
Ah some in fighting amongst the family. You truly find out who someone is when things aren't going their way.
They didnt call him a jerk. They said he stoops to levels of low that their program won't do. There's a difference. I will admit saban is a jerk at times. I won't admit that he is seedy or unscrupulous.
Their program has 2 coaches suspended from recruiting for half the season and is under investigation for the second time in 3 seasons yet they say our coach is dirty.
I agree to a point. Saban thinks things that do not directly assist in his goals are nothing more than noise. Which causes him to come across as a jerk. His players typically love him, he gives tons of money back, he infests heavily in building the character of his players instead of just the athletic growth, he has Nick's kids.... is goes on and on.... not even mentioning the academic portion which he has one of the best support structures in the nation set up to help players obtain a degree. Sure, he comes across as a jerk... but he does more to develop the men in his program than any other coach I've seen. A saint? No. How many of us are? A good man? No doubt about it.
Yes he is our coach.... so we see the best. But there are enough facts that even a non fan could make the observation that he is a class above others even when you remove the trophies from the equation. You sound like a very uninformed fan that has developed your opinion on al.com. You are missing out on a lot of quality by not seeing the rest.
Oh. And as someone else said.... him coming across as a jerk isn't the same thing as being a slime ball. Even being labeled as a jerk... slime ball is about as far away as you can get from am accurate adjective.
I know that Saban does a lot for the community and does a great job of developing players and young men. I was really responding to the statement by the OP that Saban is "one of the last few classy coaches out there." It seems to me that a lot of our fans don't see how anyone can view him as less than a great guy. I was just trying to explain why other fans, not just au fans, see him as ruthless and someone they would not consider "classy". Yes, of course au turns their envy into delusion and projects all kinds of things on him in their frustration. I don't agree at all that he's a slime ball or that he would stoop to any level to win or with much anything else that au fans say about him. I was only trying to point out that the guy can come across as pretty extreme if he's not your coach. BTW I don't read AL.com or even live in Alabama.
Totally agree with you. The OP said that Saban is one of the last few classy coaches out there, and I was only pointing out why other fans don't see it that way, sometimes understandably so.
Slim ball ??
