You could be right, but that would mean that they would start the year with maybe an $8,000,000 budget deficit. 20,000 new season ticket sales might wipe that deficit out, but that's not a given. I bought UT season tickets in 2010 and they then came back and offered season ticket holders the opportunity to buy more without making a donation. That was Dooley's first year. The economy is tough up here, and Tennessee's donation requirement in normal years has been considerably higher than ours. A school like Arkansas, with no buyouts hanging over their heads, may be in a much better position to throw out more money.
He'll land another job somewhere. Maybe small time!
I'm dubious on the whole Gruden thing; the quickest way for someone like him to lose that aura of being a "great coach" is to come into this conference and have Coach Nick Saban repeatedly shart into your mouth.
According to Vols Gruden wants to ton of $$$ for himself and a tremendous budget for assistants. I think total is around 9-10 million per year and a 10 year contract. That's probably competive as our staff makes around 9-10 million in total.
Sorry--I can't picture Gruden in a recruits living room "begging" him to come to UT--ain't gonna happen
This is a sad day for Alabama fans. I wish Dooley could've coached there for decades.
On a brighter note, I would love to get Coach Sal back. Also, this should help us with Vonn Bell depending on who they hire.
Recruits would love Gruden. He would recruit very well.
When you're on TV/ESPN recruits will love it. Just ask CMG.
I don't think it's a question of recruits loving Gruden as much as how much Gruden will love recruiting and all it entails.
