Cooper Bateman

  • I live in Utah and have had the privilege of watching this young man play. My son, his friends and friends of his friends say the kid is likable and smart.

He seems to make good decisions and is very poised. He has really good form and disciplined in his role and you can see him rising as a leader. The kids has a cannon for an arm!!!!! I think you guys will be happy with Cooper and pleasantly surprised. The people in his area are really excited about having a player in their area / high school has an offer and verbal to a Big Time School.

I love high school and college football. I watch it very closely out here. You guys are onto something REAL good.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the post man, we are in a place right now that most can only dream of as a fan base and a program. We have heard nothing but good things about Bateman and we're all patiently waiting to see him in person. By the way, is that you taking the pic in your avatar or holding up the flag? Either way that is insane (in a good way).

No problem about the update guys. I wish this young man well.

I just like the picture, not sure where it came from. A friend of mine thought it might have been out of Wright Patterson AFB

Thanks man, if you don't mind me asking, how are you guys liking your new coach? What's the expectation level going into next season?

Anything is better than last year...smh! I think over all everyone is excited and optimistic. I really liked Jim Tressel, but sometimes his conservative play was enough to make fans chew off their nails (usually the 4th quarter). Its nice to have a coach who can recruit and had played well in a tough SEC.

I think expectations are reasonably high. I think most fans could see a 9-10 win season. I think the team is buying into Urbans plan. Most fans are happy about the new coaching staff. Coaches who can teach with good experience. We sure didn't have that in a qb coach and an OL coach.

How are guys feeling this year (after losing some players to the NFL) and how do you guys feel about Mich?

Such a great position to be able to hire Urban Meyer after NCAA sanctions. That's amazing, he is the second best in the game. Good timing I guess.

I really think we will present Michigan with a substantial challange and the line of 14 or whatever is fairly accurate. Our Oline is pretty dominating and our Dline will be really stout between the tackles. If we are holding in nickle and they can't run the ball, then game over it will not be close.

Thanks for the info on Bateman, you can certainly see the arm strength on film and his footwork is pretty good. Typical stuff probably needs a little work like telegraphing passes and such.

Are you saying that Tressel played it too close to the "vest"? Sorry I had too.

I think we are finally getting to a place where we have a team stacked with talent year in and year out. All they have to do is stay humble and as you said, continue to buy into the system. One of our famous coaches always said, "The same things win that have always won, we just have a different bunch of excuses if we lose". I think Coach Saban uses this exact same philosophy everyday. Continue to do what got us here and let's change the things that need tweeking. When you are using words like "tweek" to get perfection as opposed to "overhaul", you are in a good place lol. I think we are all expecting at least 10 wins, with Trent Richardson out of the picture combined with Eddie Lacy's health issues, we will have to put a little more responsibility on our QB, but I think he's ready to make a statement and it will be an opportunity for new/young talent at RB to show what they can do. Defensively I think there are one or two guys who still have something to prove, but this is one area I just don't worry about with Saban.

Our entire fanbase is excited about starting the season against Michigan. Alabama has only lost 4 season openers since 1980 so I feel pretty good about our chances. I expect Michigan to be ready, but if we can stop their QB I just don't see them hanging with us. Nothing about them scares me might be a better way of putting it.

  • A local news station has been talking about him here and there (he is the only they are talking about, but we are still waiting for football to start ofcourse). KSL showed some clips of him hitting his target (I think it was around a 70 strike) in stride for a td

I don't give a damn about the B1G when it comes to Mich so I hope you guys crush them in the opener and we finish them off in the closer of the season.

Well said. I've actually seen some Ohio State fans who have said that they will pull for Michigan in that game because they hate Alabama more. Which is hard for me to understand seeing as how Bama hasn't played tOSU in football since the mid 90s. There isn't hardly any kind of real football rivalry between the two schools. I would think most logical Buckeyes want Bama to destroy Michigan no matter if they like Saban or not. I think Brady Hoke will do a good job there but it will take him a couple more years to get more solid recruiting classes in. He's done an excellent job at recruiting so far but I think Michigan is a few classes away from being on the level of Alabama, even if we lost some guys to the NFL. Saban is well established here having been recruiting for six solid years now. Our 1-85 is probably better than it's ever been.

Do as Woody Hayes did and what he said. When Ohio State was beating the heck out of Mich and after scoring a TD he went for two. When he was asked why, he responded because we couldn't go for three.

As I said before I hate that damn team, please crush them. No disrespect intended, I'd rather have the opportunity to play Bama. Great respect for two great teams with great traditions

Your like me. I'm hoping TN and AU get smoked by the lowly ACC on opening weekend. To hell w/ conference loyalty.

I'm sorry freak, but that means that we lose either three conference games, or three conference games and the bowl game. I know you said at least ten... and I'm not trying to be overconfident.... but this isn't 2010 and our depth and maturity seem to be higher. We would be seriously disappointing if we only hit ten wins. I know that I will be disappointed greatly if we aren't in the national title hunt come November.

So yeah, which three SEC teams can beat us? Seeing as how Coach will have them ready to beat whoever we play in a bowl.... its going to have to come in the regular season. Even with our NFL loses we are still one of the top 3 talented teams, at minimum, in all of college football. From 1-85 probably the most talented. Unless we have some injuries, we should be in the title game or the sugar bowl. 12-14 wins. Nothing less would be acceptable in my opinion. Not with the players we are plugging into the lineup.

In all honesty I have been saying "at least 10 wins" for years (somewhat of a stock response). I don't think any team in the country can beat Alabama when they are playing like we know they can, my answer was more about staying humble than anything. When we lost Mark Ingram we had another potential Heisman winner stepping right in behind him. That will not be the case for the first time since CNS came to Alabama. We have great talent all over the field and the best overall staff in the country IMVHO. There are some key positions where guys will have to make a statement early though (RB/WR). The talent is there...the coaching is there...and like always - we just have to go out there and "be champions". I have shed tears over a Bama loss more than once, Saban hates the word "expectations" so I try to keep mine reasonable. With all that being said, the homer in me says I want nothing less than the GOLD!
