I could do it, but I wouldn't put it like that.
I would explain that it was in his best interest to greyshirt. That yes, the numbers was also a reason we'd like him to greyshirt but his injury was the main one. Because he wouldn't be able to compete as well for PT this year coming off the injury, it makes more sense for him to greyshirt and come in next year. And then, honestly it would be smart to redshirt that year and come in in 2014 as a RSFR competing with Yeldon and Drake for #2 behind Hart.
Then he would have plenty of time to have experience, recover from his injury, and come in at a time the depth chart was more favorable relative to guys who have been in the system as long as he has.

Another take ... More balanced, semi complementary of cns on the issue of eventually honoring the commit. Also, note in the article that folks are not banging down his door to get him to switch due to the knee.

See, that is the problem with the agenda driven article. If the agenda would have been the reverse, it could have read:
Alabama doesn't back off injured North Georgia athlete -
Justin Taylor of North Atlanta High School has been committed to Alabama since last February. Entering his senior season, The 5-foot-11, 208-pounder was considered to be one of the top athletes in the state of Georgia. However, in August, a knee injury ended his senior year before it began. The phone calls and recruiting pitches from college coaches came to a grinding halt. Such is the world of big time college football. Fortunately for Justin, Alabama is honoring their offer. The Crimson Tide coaches informed him 2 weeks ago that they will still sign him to a full scholarship in the 2013 class...etc

He was given a 4 week notice? The reality is this happens sometimes and it is not fair to the recruit, regardless of the school involved. I guess you are saying we were doing the right thing by telling him 4 weeks before signing day that he couldn't come in with this class? If you spring this on a kid this late in the game it is wrong.
Think about this: If he were your son, how would you feel? Probably not too happy unless you were told up front that this was a possibility.
You can still be a true Bama fan and admit that we may not have handled this the best way.
