I heard it too. He is spot on. Some of these AP voters are dazzled by flashy offense and just don't appreciate great defense.

He said some stupid things about bama being dead and that we'd never get back to our former glory after Saban was hired. But he's since realized the error of his ways.

This is true, but even 2010 Auburn's "suspect" defense held the high-flying ducks to just 19 points.

I can see how his personality could rub some the wrong way. But he has an uncommon amount of common sense for a sports media guy, and he's not afraid to show it.
Personally I love his show even though he talks about pro sports mostly which I'm not all that into.

He really BLASTED us for hiring Saban & it went on for a LONG time. He made a crazy bet about doing something stupid if CNS ever brought us our glory back, but has not done it (whatever it was; I truly can't remember). It was all similar to what Jim Rome said & did, but with out the arrogance. That & his big love for the PAC 10 really chaffed many. I must say, it does seem that he has seriously changed his tune in regards to Bama & CNS.

Disclaimer: It pains me to say that...

That defense was top-5 in rush defense though. Pass defense is not something AU teaches now that Tubberville is gone. However, part of AU's run defense prominence was QB sacks negating yards. That in itself is good pass defense.
