  • Amazing how much his stats trumph Irvin's. Yet, he isn't in the HoF. Stats aren't everything but they do count for a lot.

  • Here's the thing about Carter - his numbers are terrific, and he's going to get into the Hall, it's just a matter of when.

    The thing that a lot of people probably aren't taking into account is that when a lot of voters consider a class what really stands out are the guys who dominated their era at their position. Carter's numbers are worthy, but are they heads and shoulders above his peers? Was he the best wide receiver when he was a player?

    The position has evolved so much it's tough for the voters to know where to draw the line nowadays.

    He absolutely has the numbers. He's being "punished" for things he did off the field, because that's how petty HOF voters are.

    The fact that everybody agrees they'll eventually let him in makes the matter worse imo. That means when Peter King and other assorted doofuses decide, only then will the fact he's one of the greatest of all time be taken into consideration.
