Here's the thing about Carter - his numbers are terrific, and he's going to get into the Hall, it's just a matter of when.
The thing that a lot of people probably aren't taking into account is that when a lot of voters consider a class what really stands out are the guys who dominated their era at their position. Carter's numbers are worthy, but are they heads and shoulders above his peers? Was he the best wide receiver when he was a player?
The position has evolved so much it's tough for the voters to know where to draw the line nowadays.
