Actually, I think the main purpose of this game is to function as a second bye week and provide some time to focus on upcoming games. It doesn't hurt us in the rankings (our schedule is too strong anyway) and we still make more money than if we had scheduled a good non conference home and home series. Kind of a win, win. And, if I could get to the game I would definitely take my whole family even to see this masacre.

Everyone always complains about these type of games for obvious reasons but there are some positives also. The biggest being it gives our starters a much needed break. Would have loved to have seen this game and the A&M game flip flopped. And as far as fans go, this is a great opportunity for some people to attend a game that wouldn't normally be able to afford it since ticket prices will be lower.

If you go to every game or even most games and you find yourself less than thrilled about attending, I encourage you to find a kid in your community that has never attended a game and take them with you. Their excitement will change your perspective and be another reminder of how blessed some of us are.

I am really tired of these games and they are just a chance to see other guys get to play which is free in the spring by the way.

Coach Saban had the best idea. Create a division with approx 70 teams and those 70 do not play anyone but members of that division. Have two bye weeks in between and a short playoff.

I'm actually going to take the opportunity to take my two young daughters to their first Bama football game. Figured the tickets won't cost me much....if anything, and I can leave the game if needed.

With that said, I would much rather we schedule BCS conference opponents. I'd rather play a mid-tier / weak ACC, Big 12 or BIG10 opponent over a directional school.

Personally, they need to cut the schedule back by a game and expand playoffs to 8 teams.

Nothing wrong with having a NIT style elimination tournament for the teams that don't make the top 8. Who knows, you might actually be able to get some individuals to attend the Gildan New Mexico Bowl if it was a first round play-off game.
