Curious to get the boards thoughts.....

  • I know some out there will say take one game at a time and don't jump ahead...if you fall in to that group stop reading this post. It isn't for you. I'm curious to hear the board's opinions regarding possible championship match ups against Notre Dame, Kansas State, or Oregon. Who out of the three would you want to play and why? Who would be our toughest matchup and why? Who would be our easiest matchup and why? Now on to my opinion, I'd like to play Notre dame mainly to see the matchup I've heard older Bama fans talk about for years. I also think we curb stomp then considering how they've played against teams like Pitt. The matchup I think would give us the most challenge is Oregon. That being said I think we still beat them by double digits. Love to hear your thoughts.

  • Historically speaking it's ND. ND would also be the easiest victory of the 3 imo. Oregon would be the toughest of the 3.

  • Want to play - Notre Dame, because it's Notre Dame
Toughest matchup - Oregon, because they have a lot of weapons to defend
Easiest - KSU, stop C Klein and you stop them IMO

No way is KSU easier than ND IMO. I have watched several ND games and have not been impressed at all. (Didn't watch the OK game) ND's defense is alright, but their offense is terrible. We would win 30+ to 0. Maybe 3 if we had a turnover.

This. KSUs offense is much better than NDs. Klein is a much better QB than Golson and would be much harder to defend. We would beat both, but we would destroy ND.

  • Agree with two above posters. Normally, I'm no fan of the Big 12, but I think KSU is a very, very good team this year. They play disciplined football, force turnovers, and don't turn it over--pretty good recipe for success. Not the "sexiest" of the matchups, but I think this would be the best.

I think we curb stomp ND, which I would enjoy.

Oregon is tough to measure. I think their tempo offense would be tricky from a matchup perspective, but I'm not too worried about the vertical passing game. Their backs out of the backfield would be tough to cover even with a guy as good as CJ, but I think our DL knock them off some routes and disrupt the timing enough to neutralize that. At the end of the day, their defense couldn't stop us, and I like the match up of our D vs. their O.

  • I really don't want Oregon's 7-on-7 brand of football to be given creditability by being in the National Championship game. I want somebody to beat them and take them out of the mix.
