I absolutely do not think that we could beat an NFL team or even keep it close, but Dan is currently talking to vegas insiders to figure out a line and if the Tide would be favored against any of the bottom tier NFL teams. Gotta love the fact that a national radio host is even asking this question. Also, had Spurrier on there and he thought we would be favored against a few of them.

I always hate those arguments.. NFL teams are full of NFL talent and Draft picks.. Only a certain few of our players will get drafted through the years. Any NFL team would wipe the deck with the best team in the nation every year. Now if you put all the best players from the nation on 1 team that would be a different story.

This isnt true. you think every player on every roster was drafted? not by a long shot. The crappiest teams in the league are crappy because their NFL TALENT isnt really NFL talent. Theyre full of players aquired in free agency and bad trades, and some draft busts. Thats why theyre so bad.

Actually not much of what you said is true. Take a look at the rosters of the bottom 3 teams in the league, KC, CAR, and JAX. There are NFL 1st Rd picks on every one of those teams, and Pro Bowl freaks on each. The speed of the NFL game is just not comparable to the speed of a college game, plain and simple.

A more interesting debtate: Could last year's Kentucky team have beaten the Bobcats? I say yes. But physical development and maturity is not nearly as big of a deal in the NBA, as evidenced by the success of some of the High School stars who go straight to the NBA.

This is a misconception with the modern day college game. That's why every year we see rookie QBs and WRs shining.
If Trent can leave Alabama and have a 122 yard game against the Chargers with his Oline, and RGIII and Luck can show up and start bombing away at NFL defenses, then I think the gap is smaller than some think.
We have three current OL who will be starters the day they sign an NFL contract. We have an NFL caliber QB, and 3 NFL caliber RBs (though they need to come along in pass protection). The only place I see us lacking in terms of an NFL offense is at the WR spot and maybe an elite hybrid TE like so many employ these days.
On defense, our scheme certainly closes some of the talent gap. But I do think we are deficient at DL when compared to NFL rosters.
Alabama faced essentially an NFL defense in the title game last year and did pretty well. I maintain the worst NFL team wouldn't blow us off the field.
