Defending Saban...

  • Intrigued by the possibility of still signing Johnny Townsend this morning, I Googled the issue. What I found was this article http://www.thebuckeyebattlecry.com/2013/02/the-curious-case-of-johnny-townsend/comment-page-1/#comment-143681

    Please, in addition to the article, read the comments that I made in the commentary section and respond to what I said on this thread. I am interested in any additional feedback ya'll may have. If, you have something to say to the audience on the other board, I'll read that too. Just thought I'd share this with you all in the event that you come across other fans who want to throw-out the word "oversigning" and Alabama in the same discussion. Maybe, all of you already get it and I'm sorry for wasting your time. But, for those Bama fans who were like me at one time that don't fully understand the discussion beyond hearing it as as an emotional slap-in-the-face, I hope that I'm able to share with you all some clarity.

  • Meh, everyone up there likes to make up stuff that they heard from other "sources" like this "article."

    I'll stick with the fact that we have never been reprimanded by the SEC or NCAA or heard much if any outcry by our student athletes.

    I find it funny that this guy complains about the business-like evolution of college football, but he would be first in line writing an article about firing Meyer if OSU went 0-12 next year. Can't have it both ways.

    I dont feel the need to waste my time defending our coach to the rest of the country or any one school individually. Until someone finds him doing something other than recruiting to the best of his ability, developing those players to the best of his ability both athletically and academically, and personally, winning to the best of his ability and representing the school and his community to the best of his ability, all while following the rules, I really couldn't care less what others think.

    The others are paid to write a story, as are ours. Ours have never, that I have seen, attacked a school or coach. That is the difference between being on top and wishing you were on top.
