Does CNS offer scholarships based on Star Ratings?

  • When evaluating palyers does star ratings even come into play? For anyone that knows anything about our coach, they are well aware that the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT! Here's a list of 3 star student athletes that have played for Alabama in the 5 seasons that CNS has been our coach. I know I've missed a few and there are some 2 star players that have flurished as well, but you tell me if our coach is a good evaluator of talent, and/or if he's able to maximize potential for those that buy into the process.

GLENN COFFEE, MARLON DAVIS, TRAVIS MCCALL, CORY REAMER, JAVIER ARENAS, PRESTON DIAL, GREG MCELROY, JOSH CHAPMAN, NICK GENTRY, DARIUS HANKS, MARQUIS MAZE, WILLIAM VLACHOS, CHAVIS WILLIAMS, TERRENCE CODY, MARCEL DAREUS, BRAD SMELLEY, DAMION SQUARE, ANTHONY STEEN, CHANCE WARMACK, VINNIE SUNSERI! If this doesn't change the way some on here think regarding players that CNS chooses to bring aboard this BEASTLY STEAM ROLLING CRIMSON TIDE TRAIN; then NOTHING WILL!

There are also players that are on the current roster who are so called 3 star players, that will be contributors to Championships as well (Very Soon)! Believe it or not, we even have more coming in this summer, and I believe we'll see most if not all of them flurish too! In recent years, we've seen these so called experts at star rankings, take a closer look at players tht Alabama offers, and ultimately the players receive added star(s), because they too realize that Nick knows what he's doing! Anybody recall that Ryan Anderson was a 3 star when we offered and ended up being a 5 star?

Now in closing I say congratulations Mr. Andy Dodd! You have chosen wisely, and I look forward to seeing you flurish at the Capstone!!

    ROLL TIDE MY CRIMSON FRIENDS!!!!!

  • Does that mean "Sasquatch" really isn't CNS?

  • Nice Post!

  • When you take into account that the first wave of offers comes out annually before star rankings are released and the second wave of offers comes out after our summer camps, I'm not sure who would argue that he recruits only from recruiting services.

Btw, half the players you listed weren't offered by CNS or were already on our commit list when he arrived. He doesn't need to prove anything to anybody in regards to evaluations anymore as the proof is in the pudding. He is the best in the business and an offer from him means instant validation of a recruit (deserved or not).

  • This is interesting. Thanks for the knowledge. I always assumed he sent letters to each 5* and 4* once they were announced and offered them a scholarship.

  • Obviously he doesn't, but I was watching the movie "The Blind Side" again on Saturday night. In one of the scenes, a guy walks up to Tom Lemming in his office and says "Tom, Coach Saban wants those prospect videos asap". That kind of caught me as odd. I just assumed that kids sent their videos directly to the schools.

  • Hey James026! If you'll re-read the post you'll see that I didn't say that CNS offered all of these players, but they did however play for Him. The point was that it doesn't matter what rating they have, if the player is good enough to receive an offer we should all welcome him aboard and make him feel welcome upon receiving his commitment! I like your last line of your post regarding instant validation for a recruit receiving an offer from Saban! Spot on! Too many people just get all giddy when a 4 or 5 star commits, and we know some of those don't pan out, but we don't show the love to the lesser rated players when they decide on the TIDE! Thanks Bro!

The title is a little misleading though...not trying to bust your chops

  • Hey Bamakruat! Your post is a perfect example of what happens when you assume; you end up smelling like you've been in a BARN! I'm not implying you're a Barn wagon fan, but sarcastic post like the one you entered has no value, and is the kind of stuff I've come to expect from the few Aubren fans I know! Post like a champion - post something postive! Thanks and Roll Tide!

  • All colleges pay for some type of recruiting service for information. Read the book Meat Market by Bruce Feldman and it details out what Ole Miss paid for the insider services.

I am not talking about sites like Scout, 247, or Rivals btw.
