BOL Round Table

It'd be great to have a local show that covers a little more than Alabama/Auburn, and it'd be great if it's not just local newspaper writers, but real radio people (I won't name (rhyming) names). I feel like Roundtable on Jox probably does the best job of balancing this in the state currently, but think there is plenty of room for improvement. We all obviously love Alabama (and the rest of the state feels the same about Auburn), but almost every sports talk show in the state talks about that almost exclusively (and not always well). I'm not saying it can't be a key part of the show, but I'd love a little variety, and the morning show option on JOX is unbearable right now.

However, I'd say step 1 is hiring good hosts, who prepare, can be somewhat knowledgeable on the topics they cover, and can carry conversations/callers, etc. I feel like that's where Birmingham misses the boat on most shows.

This is a good thing. They were just not entertaining to me although they had good guests. I would listen for the guests and that was it.

The afternoon on this station is just bad. I mean bad. Scab is terrible in general even if I put aside my bias. But the most disappointing for me is Barbie. I mean I gave her a shot and the benefit of the doubt. But when she regularly pulls a Vern and follows it up with dead air during an interview, I can't listen anymore. I listen when I-man, Tammy, or Legend calls F-baum. That is only if Legend runs off on a expletive rant.

Rice, I agree. Eli loved to hear himself talk to much, and quite often would just walk right over Stan, who I really grew to like quite a bit and will miss even more than Eli, who, despite his faults, is an encyclopedia of great sports knowledge.

And, yeah, the afternoon show is absolutely horrendous. I love Rachel, but she's not a "radio star", and we won't even talk about Kevin---his whiney, "holier-than-thou" attitude is just too much to handle...I cannot listen.

Unfortunately, I don't have XM in my sports car that I drive most of the time, but I think I'll be calling Sounds Great ASAP to install it...

BUT, I'm gonna resuggest that the 97.3 folks go HARD after D&B and Lance...their show is the best one on the radio, and they would be FANTASTIC in that slot. Open up the wallets, and hire them away, sticking a knife and finishing off 94.5...

I agree with everyone else about dunnaway, brown and Lance. Best show on the radio. Problem is I think they just signed a new contract with Jox and I bet that will be tough to get out of

THIS, their talk show is the only one I like on Jox

Would love to have Wimp and Sonny back on the air...never a dull moment with those two.
